You could do a timelapse of a clock or any number of things. In the language of editing, a crossfade usually denotes a large jump in time, location, or theme.
Instead of a timelapse you could do a crossfade between two different times on a clock or a crossfade from a day to a night establishing shot.

Looks like Speedgrade to DPX is the best way. Super easy to relink since proxies and original had the same clip names.

Right click the metadata columns and edit them. Date created will be an option under the “basic” group.

Why not build a grid in Photoshop and make each cell it’s own alpha guide layer? This may create more layers than you’re use to working with but it will make your grid fit perfectly in comparison to drawing shape layers yourself within AE.

Look into JBridge for Mac. It is a VST wrapper that allows the use of 32-bit plugins within 64-bit hosts and vice versa. It may not work with every plugin but I’ve had great success with it getting some legacy vst effects to work.
Please be aware that Premiere may gray out some plugins regardless if they properly load into the program due to audio channel or other compatibility issues.

Premiere Pro has pretty inflexible MXF support so as a container I feel like that option is out.
AVCHD is a branded implementation of H.264, so taking it down to something like MPEG2 could work in theory but you go through a round of recompression that is still pretty lossy. I’d avoid it.
This leaves you with the “holy trinity” of intermediate codecs: Avid DNxHD, Apple ProRes and GoPro Cineform. All three work within the Quicktime MOV container and DNxHD and Cineform are free (both limit support to 1080p) while Apple ProRes is installed with purchase of at least one Apple pro app like Final Cut 7, Final Cut X, Compressor, Motion, etc.
GoPro Cineform works really well and it tends to be a codec that I’ve started to enjoy but it’s not widespread so if you have to reach out to other facilities, they may be reluctant to want to handle it or feel hassled to install the codec. They are working on making it a standardized codec with SMPTE if I recall so you may see it become more widespread in the next few years. Download GoPro Studio to install the codec.
Avid DNxHD is another free codec, it’s the oldest of the three. After Effects has some artifacting issues with it does tend to block up more in terms of compression artifacts as you compress it over a number of generations. If you keep a clean workflow that doesn’t recompress footage often or you need to send out work to an Avid editor then this could be the choice for you.
Apple ProRes is a popular option even if it isn’t free. It’s many people’s go to, it’s a common codec for delivery to post facilities and so on. Good quality over multiple generations of recompression. What worries me over long term success is its proprietary nature although I feel all of these codecs will get a major revamp as we move to 4K deliverables in the next 5-10 years.

Premiere Pro has framerate conform internally in comparison to Cinema Tools.
I would investigate conforming the 23.976 ProRes from resolve to straight 24 in Premiere and speeding audio to match duration. The audio degredation is minimal and this is common practice to keep visuals pristine.
Not only do you need to use a 24fps timeline in Premiere, you need to right click and change the framerate under “interpret footage” for the 23.976 reel. This avoids frame resembling.

Try using Prelude like Lightroom, one Prelude project per drive as a searchable library. I haven’t used Prelude with more that 200-300 clips so I’m not sure if it will scale but it’s worth investigating. Don’t use Lightroom directly, it doesn’t handle audio only files and it doesn’t support as many video formats.
