I have owned both the hm100 and hm150. Short answer, buy the HM150.

The picture quality is very similar, but the HM150 is a little cleaner. (Remember these are VERY good 720p cameras, but 1080i/p is not as good)

The controls, buttons, etc are MUCH better on the HM150. Much more professional and flexible/customizable. Plus I use a remote on the HM150 and it is great.

Are you shooting 1080 or 720p
The JVC’s are much cleaner in 720p mode.

I have read on other forums (d v i n f o) that you get a cleaner picture by detting detail to around -6

Shoot in 720p mode and try lowering the detail level. It should help.

There are Audio level settings -12 or -20db reference.

If you are using on automatic, try setting the audio to -12db setting
You will have less dynamic range, but generally the sound level will be higher.

Also, 720p is much cleaner in my opinion. T
ry setting the detail level down to -6 and it will be clean and you will not lose much detail in 720p mode.

I never use 1080 on my HM100. Too noisy or grainy me too.

720p 24p or 30p -6 Detail, ND filter on in day gives the best picture. Try adjusting the shutter speed to 1/100 so you can keep the F-Stop around 2.8 to 4.0 in bright sun.

    Good luck.

I have a hm100u. Very nice camera for the size.

It will depend on frame rate and shutter speed.

I have found that the camera performs better at 720p modes.
    I shoot 720 60p. I use a shutter of 1/100 or 1/250 and I get sharp movement.

  • You are not alone. A few others have seen this also.

JVC now has a fix via firmware. You have to send the Camera to JVC for them to fix it.

Yes, move the entire BPAV folder with all the subfolders intact as they were on the media card.

In Premiere, there is a window called Media Browser.
Go to that and click on the drive your files are on. (Don’t click on the BPAV folder.) Also, the is a “View As:” pop down. Select HDCAM-EX and you should see only the mp4 files.
