Just looked at the rendered media file in QT player and it’s definitely Media 100i – the only thing I can think of is I rendered it lossless – not that that should make a difference?

Thanks for the quick response Floh. I have not changed the codec on the timeline – it’s M100i throughout so the rendering of titles is also M100i so there shouldn’t be any gamma shift when rendering the titles should there?
I did a project using M100i about a month ago and did not have this problem then – nothing’s changed.

Looks like it’s time to upgrade everything at once then. I’ll be keeping a clone of my current system though!

Magic Bullet Colorista and Looks are indeed great tools and not too hard to use.
My workflow at the moment is to do some basic colour correction/levels adjustment in M100 and then when the edit’s finished export to After Effects and then use Colorista and Looks to do the final grade.
I’m hoping that at some point M100 will open up their plug-in architecture to be able to use the plug-ins that we use in FCP and After Effects within M100. In my opinion this would be the single most valuable feature M100 could implement.
I’m assuming it would be technically possible but would need a considerable rewrite of the code. I’ve asked for this in the past but seen no comment from M100 – how about it Wickham? Is it doable? Is it desirable as far as you’re concerned?

December 7, 2010 at 8:47 pm in reply to: XDCAM HD – Only the proxies showing up in XDCAM TransferI’ve worked it out!
The footage is NTSC 60I and my default M100 settings are Pal 25P so when I imported a clip it looked terrible!
All is well now, thanks for your help as always Floh.
I much prefer XDCAM EX where you can see the full res clips in XDCAM transfer…

December 7, 2010 at 7:20 pm in reply to: XDCAM HD – Only the proxies showing up in XDCAM TransferIt looks really poor quality with lot’s of aliasing – not much better than the proxy looks – is it possible that it’s just been shot really badly but I’m seeing the full res clip?

So how do I import the full res clips intoM100? When I select import it just imports the proxy.

Thanks Chris that ‘s really good of you 🙂 I’ve tried the AFX effect in the past that’s supposed to even out exposure without much success.

Auto Lighting Optimiser was set to standard, so maybe that was it. I’ll try some tests
Thanks for the replies

It’s definitely not the light changing as it’s only on the 5D footage. You can see the levels change on the whole image, although it’s much more noticeable on the BG.
I assume in manual mode there are no ‘gotchas’ where there is still some auto exposure compensation going on?
