What’s the format of the still? I wonder if its not really compatible but FCPX is trying to use it. CMYK or something?

Also, Have you tried replacing the still with another shot and seeing if the same bug persists? And in your pics you didn’t show the video animation keyframes. Do you see the phyiscal keyframes moving/changing position when you go through the steps?

What about using the solo shortcut? I would hate to have to move a clip and drag it back, particularly if it wasn’t in a snappable spot.

Based on what you’ve said, it definitely sounds like a bug. Disabling one clip should not have any affect on another clip. Can you reproduce 100 percent of the time? Can you reproduce in another project? Make sure to fill out a bug report (via feedback menu).

Have you tried the solo shortcut instead of using disable? It might work around the bug.

How long have you had it? It took me about 3 weeks to become at all comfortable with it. Probably a couple months before it was second nature.

For some things, especially in editing programs, it’s going to be sub-par to a mouse or other pointing device. I miss having an easy way to scroll such as the middle button on a mighty mouse. However, it still prefer it because I work long hours at editing and I’ve never worked with anything more comfortable.

That said, I prevent cursor drift by how I hold my hand on the tablet. I don’t hover above the pad with the pen. I set my hand down on the tablet, on it’s side, resting. The pen sits between my thumb and forefinger as normal with the nib pointing down towards the pad. At that distance, the pen works as a pointer, and I just glide my hand across the surface of the tablet, steady and without having to lift it. When I need to click, I roll my hand the direction of my curled fingers and the pen touches the pad and nearly the same spot where it was hovering. For double-clicks I make sure that the two position button on the side of the pen is set to double-click (on lower) and right click (on upper). I don’t have to dip the pen to double click or right click items.

    Hope that helps.

What does FHA mean? I’ve not heard that before.

[Sascha Engel] “I just edited a film, that was shot on Canon C300 and in Mac OS 10.8.4 there is no more working plug in for the L&T Tool to ingest. So I had to ingest on my MBP which is still running on 10.6.8.”

If you have X, then why didn’t you just injest the footage in X and copy the resulting QTs to a folder to work in 7 if that’s what you wanted to do? Probably would have made for an easier workaround.

[From the article:] “For example, Premiere took 106 seconds to render a 5-second cross dissolve on a 667MHz Power Mac G4; Final Cut Pro took just 21 seconds.”

That’s right kids, we used to have to render everything. It’s hard to imagine now how long things took to render back then.

October 7, 2013 at 12:09 am in reply to: Resizing and transform in x

[Mathieu Ghekiere] “If you adjust the scale of a clip in the inspector, it updates in the viewer.
But if you adjust the scale in the viewer with the transform tools, it DOES NOT update in the inspector.”

It does for me. Which version are you using? Now, if you’re scaling below 100 percent in the viewer, it doesn’t seem to mirror in the inspector, but if you twirl the disclosure triangle you will see the X and Y scale values with the adjusted numbers.

The fact that it doesn’t update the global scale value below 100 percent is a bug as you said, but one with an easy work around if you need to view percentages. The value updates fine if for me if you scale above 100.

October 4, 2013 at 5:23 pm in reply to: Export problem. Can’t see comp…

In Motion 4 it’s possible to output the Alpha only which, if there’s no transparency in your project, will appear as a white QT. I’d check the advanced options in the export dialogue to see if that’s the case.
