When SMTPE updated the safe areas for HDTV, the margins retreated so that safe title was at the 90% mark and safe action was 93%. I believe prior to that the defaults were 80% and 90% respectively.

Don’t forget, your bars came in 144 pixels from each side for a total of 288 pixels. That is 15% of the frame, as intended.

  • When stabilizing footage, I always recommend trying the Stabilize Motion feature in the Motion Tracker and the Warp Stabilizer effect because you’ll get different outcomes. So, try the Motion Tracker and see if you get a better result. Here’s how you do it with that:

Sounds like you are talking about using the same clip and just having one part stable and one part not, so you could remove the keyframe data generated from your stabilized track from the point you want to be destabilized/normal and then work your way back to normal by keyframing over a few frames.

  • I’m sure you’ll get varied answers here since it’s personal preference and both programs have their strong points, but i prefer keeping an Adobe workflow. The Lumetri scopes are solid tools. My one exception is I’ll use Resolve briefly when using a Datacolor Spyder color checker in my shoot

Short answer is I don’t think so. There are lots of programs that support virtual backgrounds without the need for greenscreen when using your webcam, but these are being processed real-time between camera and software. After Effects, of course, comes afterwards.

That is from phasing and that happens in Premiere Pro. As such, I use Adobe Audition to speed up audio and maintain the pitch. It’s really easy to do. Just bring in your audio clip and go to Effects>Time and Pitch> Stretch and Pitch. Set your new duration or stretch %. Make sure pitch shift is on 0.

  • The first thing you want to determine is if you are going to do 1080 or 720. Then, choose your screen capture software. One important thing to note if you are not doing the capturing… make sure the person recording the screen does so in a 16:9 format. I commonly receive screen capture where the person records their entire screen and they have important info at the periphery of the screen. So, when I scale down as needed for the video aspect ratio, I end up having to leave black bars on the sides (or fill in a top gap with a header image) because they didn’t record in 16:9 and I couldn’t crop in due to important items being on the screen edges.

Your timeline settings won’t really be an issue or effect your playback. What will most effect your playback is if your screen capture is in h.264. Although Premiere is OK at handling h.264, I usually convert to ProRes or something similar for a smoother workflow.

  • It’s possibly a grounding issue. Do you hear it when you use a different HDMI cable?

If you don’t need rgb lighting, the dracast kala is a great bicolor or solid color dimmable light that is durable and inexpensive. Probably get a 3 light kit with stands for not much more than 1 apurture 120d. I find their enough for most of my corporate video shots and very transportable.
