the lack of enthusiasm for even a free version of Media Composer is an indication of how long in the tooth the program has gotten. FCP X and Premiere feel faster, easier, more flexible.

this is the very best transcription service I’ve found — ridiculously inexpensive and very accurate https://www.trint.com we use it every day – nothing beats it for accuracy and price per use

If Apple had produced this video (instead of an editor fan) it may have generated many more pro converts…first time i’ve seen that maybe there’s something to like in working in X (i long ago switched to Premiere..but this video certainly offered a reason to give X a second look

I was a big fan of their movielogger for years (manual but very easy and useful) This new system seems more costly than another service i’m now regularly using – https://www.trint.com — pricing as low as 20 cents a minute……depending on plan but even the most expensive plan is 1/2 the cost of Speedscriber. It is incredibly fast and accurate. We are using it virtually every day now.

Is it possible that anemic sales convinced Apple there’s not enough of us power users out there to make an update profitable?

Something that doesn’t get mentioned much – you can edit an Oscar winning production on virtually anything – Imovie -FCP 10 Premiere – Avid – Edius ..Resolve. Some have more convenient bells and whistles but there’s hardly a thing you can do in one that you can’t make happen on the other.
Working at a Television Network and on independent productions, i’ve had to learn them all – have my preferences, but whatever they put in front of me, i’ll use to create.
So whether FCP 10 lives on doesn’t matter as much as you’re ability to use them all.

September 13, 2016 at 8:59 pm in reply to: Do you think the next FCPX update will require Sierra? What is amazing that FCP 7 Legacy still works on EVERY OS update through Yosemite (haven’t tried beyond that) — wonder how long that will last?

Used Episode several years ago….but Adobe’s Media Encoder comes with the rest of the software….it’s fast intuitive and does virtually everything Episode did – without the extra software cost (except native WMV encoding – does anyone use that any more?)

not sure if it does — i know on line it syncs to the video you uploaded…….but that’s good enough for the documentary work i do…..with timestamps from :00:00 at the start of the video — what’s amazing is its accuracy. Used to (try to) Use the transcription function in earlier versions of Premiere and it was hit or miss (mostly miss)
