It’s Telestream Vantage or Telestream Cloud encoding service.
I’ve been using Episode since it was Popwire CompressionMaster.
I don’t doubt Adobe Media Encoder and Apple Compressor has had an impact.

This points to the trend as to why localized computing power will become less important sooner than later and portability will be of more importance than sheer rendering capability.

Used Episode several years ago….but Adobe’s Media Encoder comes with the rest of the software….it’s fast intuitive and does virtually everything Episode did – without the extra software cost (except native WMV encoding – does anyone use that any more?)

Episode has some very deep controls such as, depending on the codec, control of GOP structure but most people don’t need that level of control. Episode’s strength is tweaking some problematic encodes but, these days, many of those problems are solved with simply throwing more bits (higher data rate) at it.

FWIW – there’s still Sorenson Squeeze.

Very sad to see Episode exit the show. We’ve been using it since the Popwire-days when it didn’t even have solid output of QuickTime.

I’ll have to meet with Telestream at IBC to see if their offerings are valid replacements. I have a very hard time seeing that’s the case for us.

What other options are out there?

    – Sorensson Squeeze will get another look for sure given recent versions from my PoV have been pretty dodgy.

    – Adobe Media Encoder we use but it’s limited.

    – Apple Compressor was garbage last time I checked but will investigate again.

I really liked Episode’s workflow system. I’ve always found batches of files a bit unwieldy in a list view.

[Craig Seeman] “It’s Telestream Vantage or Telestream Cloud encoding service.”

I’m very curious to see if Telestream Cloud can work as a SaaS. Adobe Media Encoder works, in part, because it’s a part of the whole package. I wonder if there’s enough of a market for Telestream to support the R&D, maintenance, and support for Telestream Cloud when it flips solely to a SaaS offering with month-to-month payments – https://cloud.telestream.net/episode
