November 28, 2011 at 12:30 am in reply to: Cannot view audio track of an MTS file …have tried rebuilding Peaks… any tips?hi steve…..yeah the audio is just normal. plays fine when previewing (and rendering) in Vegas. Just get “flatline” for the left and right channels.
P.S. while on the subject of Vegas versions… i run 8.1 on XP64. It runs fine (the only issues I have are user based!). For what I do (simple home editing using mostly sony avchd and some kodak/flip type cameras rendering to blu ray .mts files) do i really need to jump to version 11?
I would also need to ditch xp64 and get win7 i suppose … for my limited requirements are there any other compelling reasons why i should from 8.1 to 11?

thanks John this worked for me. For big 2gb files this workaround is not a problem. I am using 8.1 BTW.
thanks!

I just found the Keith Kolbo tutorial to render to MP4 using QT… preview seems to work great!
Will update on how my editing goes later….thanks in advance !!Vegas 8.1, XP64, HP Pavilion i7 12GB RAM, separate disks for projects and OS

hey… did anyone solve this? In the end I tried the demo copy of iorgsoft video converter which created an “ok” AVI file (perhaps a little degraded). But at least it previewed ok and in sync.
I also tried renamed mov to mp4. This gave audio but with choppy video.
Ummm I also tried that ffmpeg remultiplex recommended elsewhere. No luck…
Oh … also deinstalled QT and installed old version 7.5. Same symptoms.
thanks for any advice.

ok you’ve made my mind up for me: I will see if I can install 801c. My wife doesn’t like me messing up the machine LOL so maybe this will be a late night project tomorrow night.
BY THE WAY – one more for you? My source files are sony .mts files from my AVCHD Tg5v camcorder. Creating a MAINCONCEPT .m2t files @ 1920×1080 @ 16mbps…. is this the maximum compatibility or is using the SONY AVCHD template @16mbps/1920×1080 the *most* recommended route? Apologies… I read and read but really don’t understand .m2ts, .mts, .mpeg, .mp4, blu ray, etc. etc.
thanks Mike!

Hi Mike. OK … first off apologies I am actually running 8.1 not 8.0c (just realized, duh).
so anyway… below is the CLOSEST I could get to your setting. Note it is AVC not AVCHD (your setting) – with AVCHD selected I simply cannot customize frame rate (it only allows 1440.1080). Moreover it renders a file which is unplayable on VLC or Microsoft media Player. I manually bumped up size to 1920.1080 and bps to 16meg.
Below are my screenshots. Question is – – do you think my issue is a symptom of 8.1? Wondering….should I revert back to 8.0c?
thanks for your time,

hi Mike, what version of Vegas are you running? Currently I am running 8.0c x64. Sorry to keep posting multiple questions, but I cannot seem to edit an existing question 🙂

hey thanks but I have no idea how to force it to 1920×1080…
any other ideas? i’ve tried tinkering with the project template, the project settings….the ONLY way I can get to 1920×1080 is to use the Mainconcept and create an m2ts or mts file. Is that as good as the Sony AVC?
And… one more stupid question for you guys… what’s the practical differnce between AVC and AVCHD ….

thanks for you tips guys. quick clarification…?
[John Rofrano] “Render to Sony AVC using the AVCHD 1920×1080-60i template and it will render to the same format as your original files.”
I cannot seem to adjust beyond 1440×1080…(greyed out) any suggestions? it’s entirely possible I am confusing myself 🙂Vegas 80c, XP64, HP Pavilion i7 12GB RAM
