The 3d is done by using a null object to move your 3d model. So the model itself is not a 3d layer. Lights and shadows do not do anything to the model. You can make the model layer a 3d layer but lights will only see it as a flat 2d image.
It’s a great new feature and is really a giant step towards what your looking for it to do. It’s not quite there yet though.
As for how it runs. I have had no issues with stability on a os x.
