I am finding that about %20 of the time I get an error message when I come back to AVID and the sequence will not play and it is often difficult to identify what the issue is. Usually after 2 – 3 hours of back and forth I find one or two clips that AVID is having a problem with and mix those down and fix it all up…. this almost never happened with FCP 7 XML….. or if it did simply the problem clips would not work – it did not make the whole sequence fail to play.

I wonder if Resolve will become a genuine NLE option at some point….I know of many filmmakers who are still dissatisfied with the alternatives to FCP7….

It seems to me that Blackmagic is developing an ecosystem. They don’t charge much (free for the Lite system) for their software but you have to buy their hardware (a bit like Apple). They now have a camera, scopes etc. The issue might be more about increasing the number of users buying in to their ecosystem rather than what some particular components of that ecosystem cost. Overall revenue per user over a working life in post is probably a lot more important than a little bit of cash from an update now and then….

Also strangely this project is uprezzed through AMA and then consolidated to DNXHD in AVID but the spanned clips stay as two separate media files nevertheless.

Do you know if the XF utility can add tape numbers in an efficient way?

Thanks…. some of my shows are up against tight broadcast air dates so I always let others beta test for a few months before upgrading….
