Furthermore….after I log out and log back in to DAVINCI the log disappears entirely….

Project Settings (cog button in lower left of DAVINCI main window) / Master Project Settings / Conform Options
You will probably need to start a new project and set it before you import anything – once you have timelines in the project I don’t think it allows you to change this setting.

Also in conform options ensure that “handle mixed rate material” is selected when you first create the project.

Have you simply added the MXF folder containing the media to the media pool manually – I find this usually does the trick.

On this I am interested to know will Davinci use CUDA if there is only one GPU present, presuming it is a CUDA enabled processor. Also, given that on an IMAC you are running an ULTRASTUDIO pro off one THUNDERBOLT port I am wondering if you are better off using USB 3 for your harddrives (up to 5Gbs) rather than share the THUNDERBOLT – I am not certain that the two thunderbolt ports are really two totally separate THUNDERBOLT connections?
Any thoughts?

As a general point, there is a setting in Master Project Settings / Conform Options called “Handle mixed framerate material”. I have found that AAF round trip workflows seem to succeed more reliably when this is turned ON, even if the material does not contain any mixed framerates. Dunno why but it seems to solve some problems.

HI Eric,
I am using the free version which limits you to a certain number of functions or something….I only need a couple. It worked fine for me…..the only thing was, at least on my first try at it, that it seemed to ADD the function that I programmed in to the Wave, not change it out – so the buttons effectively did two things at once. If you carefully select which buttons to reprogram, this may not matter (eg the STOP button on the WAVE could be used and basically the fact that it STOPS AND TOGGLES the GRADES on and off is fine for me).

Ok well problem fixed…..not sure if you would call this a bug or just confusing application implementation: in the database list the problem databases are listed as ‘incompatible (unupgradable) and double clicking the databases only brought up an error message. However I then selected the databases individually and used the fast menu, selected “upgrade” and the databases upgraded fine. It seems they were not “unupgradeable” or “incompatible” at all…..
Hope this helps someone else at some future date…
