Some modern versions of MacOS don’t allow you to do much with files or folders stored at the root of the hard drive; Prefering to only allow you to do stuff with things in your user folder.
Which version of MacOS / OSX do you run?
To get around this, it’s usually a simple matter of going into Finder and selecting the file or folder on your hard drive that you want to access – in our case the “Media 100 Media Folders” folder -, bringing up its “Get Info” window (APPLE+i), and changing the permissions on that folder to allow you to do stuff with it (read & write).
Alternatively you can use programs like Carbon Copy Cloner to clone your hard drive to another hard drive, or just clone it to a folder on a hard drive. CCC is commercial software, but has a free month’s trial, and even lets you open it a few times after that, mercifully. https://bombich.com/

Great to hear things worked out! ????
Andy Worth had also chipped in with the following on Facebook:

“I used to be a tech around that time, but my memory isn’t exact so hopefully some of this helps. I think it would have come with disks, but they were rarely the latest version so I used to install from a download. I would assume the system is on a single drive with the sonnet array only used as a media drive so hopefully doesn’t need the installer to reinstall system drive? Personally I found the sonnet cases not as good as other cases, with the most common problems being the card in the cases dying. if he replaces case hopefully that will fix problem. Other wise there may be another solution. maybe his is different and contains a RAID controller, but some were just JBODS with a the PCI card just being an esata bus controller. The RAID 0 stripe was done by software. If that is the case he can plug the drives in internally, as long as the computer can see the drives with or without the the sonnet controller/case. if im wrong and it is a RAID controller, (which for just RAID 0 would be weird and unnecessary) then he will only be able to read the drives with a sonnet controller/case setup. it just depends on whats controlling the RAID stripe.”

Hope the second hand Sonnet case ends up helping.
Because of my lack of knowledge on striped arrays of hard disk drives, I’ll try and share your post with others that may know more…unless you’ve had some luck since you first posted, and you’ve got things working again?
My fear, of course, is hard drive failure.
When you first noticed problems, you should have backed up to new drives.
Am guessing a 3TB drive would have done, and these aren’t too expensive these days.
However, you did say you couldn’t afford to upgrade, so I don’t know what your budget is.Sorry I’m not much help. Floh is a world of knowledge, and may appear shortly with some tips.
In the meanwhile, I’m going to share your post on the Media 100 Facebook Group, and see if anyone there has any advice that may help.
Yours,
Andrew. -

August 1, 2017 at 8:05 am in reply to: Sony PXW-Z150 – How to import files into Adobe Premiere Pro CCMichael – did you begin using the Z150 with Media 100? Vivek Sharma is asking about it on the Media 100 Facebook group – specifically: “Are the 4k files from this camera able to be imported into media100?”

That would still be awesome, =D.
I obtained some iFinish boards recently, along with the software CD for iFinish 4.5 – which I understand runs on Windows 2000, and for which there was a 4.6 Upgrade, to allow it to run on Windows XP. The person I got the cards from tried to find the 4.6 upgrade, and couldn’t. So I’ve been on the look out for anyone that has it since, =).

Do you have the iFinish 4.6 software by any chance?

Thank you for this advice, Floh.
At the moment, I use Edit Ready’s rewrap preset, to turn the BPAV folder of mp4 files, into Quicktime mov files Media 100 can work with,
then I import to Media 100 via File->Import->Files…
…is that what you dub a “manual” import? In the Import dialogue box that ensues, I set the color range import option to 16-235.
Is this what you mean I should do, by treating the footage as in that colourspace? My Media 100 project codec settings are set to Pro Res 422, and so on import, it is importing to the ProRes codec.
I assume that means, on export, my material is already 0-255, and I can go ahead and convert my by reference exported mov, to H264 with no worries? [I use Compressor 4.1.3 and don’t really see a colour range setting – I just use High profile, and CABAC Entropy Mode – whatever these things are, ^_^, as per google’s recommended settings].
I know you’re busy.
Many thanks for your time, =). -
Media 100 does create its own separate audio tracks – one for each channel – from the source media.
You can see the results in the “Media 100 Media Folders” folder – usually there’s a subfolder in there for your project, =).
Then you can figure out if those files being created are 16bit or 24bit (they will open in Quicktime Player 7 where you can see stats via view->show movie inspector).
Either way, they’ll be separate files.Sometimes the rendering of them is much quicker than the written estimate, especially given modern processors and ssds.
Try it with a clip of modest length, and see how long it takes, and then scale that time figure up, for a more realistic estimate of the total time cost for your project. -
What is the reason for needing the XML?
Terry recently shared a method to go from Media 100 to Adobe Premiere Pro:
“There is a bit of a workaround – spent days trying to get it to work! If you try to go straight to PP from Media 100 you get a “generic error” message when you try to import the XML into PP. However, you can “export to After Effects”. The XML (more or less) opens fine in After Effects. If you try to export an XML from After Effects and open it in Premiere once again you will get a “generic error” message. However, within After Effects you can save it as a Premiere Pro Project which then will open fine in PP!”Media 100 will handle Premiere Pro XML directly:
“Did a quick test Andrew and it worked fine going from PP to Media 100 via XML. Didn’t need to go to After Effects first. It was a super simple straight cut test with three clips but worked fine. You will just need to make sure that your PP clips are in a codec Media 100 can handle. I used ProRes clips in my test. Strange that you can do directly that way but M100 out to PP doesn’t work directly.”The source of my information are Terry’s replies to this Facebook post:

Hello.
It’s a known bug on modern MacOS versions, and will always crash (although it may have once worked on an older version of OSX – I’m on Mavericks and still get the crash though).
There’s a solution!
You can get a good After Effects XML exported from Media 100 without any crash, by going to File->Export->After Effects…
