    Did you solve these issues?

I assume by flattened EDL, they mean just one video track.
I am merely guessing though – don’t be afraid to ask them what they mean.
An EDL export should be possible from Media 100, =), via File->Print to EDL.
Although Media 100 has a really good export to After Effects XML option, and some Final Cut Pro 7 XML export options too – so do ask them which format they may prefer, =).

Exporting a textless version should be possible too, assuming any text you’ve added, was added to the graphics layers. You can mute any tracks, including video tracks – just by clicking the track name (i.e. v or v1, v2, v3, etc) and the entire track will turn grey and no longer play back. When you want the track unmuted again – just click it again.

So if your video was on v, and your text was on v1,
you could mute track v1 by clicking (v1) on the left of the program,
and then you could export via File->Export->File… as usual, =).

There may be other ways to do it too (you could copy and paste everything apart from the text to a new program for example), this is just the first thing that sprung to my mind.
    Others may have other suggestions,
and perhaps in the last few months you’ve found your own way to do what you want too?
If so, do post back here, so others can benefit from your experience, =).

    Yours,
    Andrew.

August 12, 2018 at 5:52 pm in reply to: Monitor?

    Hello,

You’d need to obtain some video hardware that can output to a monitor.
Did you find a solution in the end?

There are some suggestions on the Media 100 website in the Frequently Asked Questions section:
    https://www.media100.com/pages/frequently-asked-questions-media-100-suite-v2-1-8#hardware

You could simply get a Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter from Apple, and do exactly the same as you used to – however, Firewire only gives you a choice of DV or HDV out.

    The BlackMagic Ultra Studio Mini Monitor is the most popular piece of hardware for attaching a video monitor to other editing suites, and unfortunately is not supported by Media 100;
instead, there is support for more fully fledged i/o hardware, such as the AJA IO XT and the BlackMagic UltraStudio 4k – both of which can connect to your cylinder Mac Pro via Thunderbolt.

The Intensity Pro referred to in the FAQ, is the older card you put inside an older Mac Pro tower, and not the modern shuttle versions that work via thunderbolt – I do not know if those work yet. They might. If you get one, let us know, =).

Some people are using older AJA or BlackMagic cards via a Thunderbolt PCIe chassis too. The FAQ mentions the Sonnet’s Echo Express SE II.

Media 100 is free to download these days,
so you can ask the sellers of any equipment you’re considering buying,
to download Media 100 and see if it works with it first,
    before splashing your cash, =).

Am in the UK, and found the UK store link to be:
    https://itunes.apple.com/gb/book/timeline-digital-1/id612514761?mt=11
I found it by searching the iBooks store for “Timeline Digital 1”.
    The product page mentions it’s Version 3.0, updated 8th May 2018. =).

    Yes it should do, =).

Some system specs are in the release notes here:

May 5, 2018 at 4:11 pm in reply to: Media 100 suite 2.1.6 vs 2.1.8 for Yosemite

    Hi Brent, =).

You can see the main differences between all versions here:
    https://www.media100.com/pages/media-100-release-history

Essentially, the main benefit is that 2.1.8 will work on MacOS Sierra, and is completely free, =).

Some users are currently testing it on High Sierra also – there were some display issues with dialogue boxes in 10.13 that appear resolved by Apple’s 10.13.4 update.

Media 100’s official word on High Sierra is here:
    https://www.media100.com/blogs/news/media-100-and-macos-high-sierra

  • As mentioned on the Facebook Group, Floh’s post here: https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/4/867306#867307 seems to work, if you’re comfortable editing an XML file in a text editor, and changing the pathurl that point to the files.

November 2, 2017 at 9:56 pm in reply to: Media 100 2.1.8 Crash

First super congrats on getting things working via re-imaging the machine, and I hope it lasts, =).

As regards it only being Sierra – that’s good news, as Media 100 is supposed to work on Sierra pretty well.
Because I don’t know the exact cause of your crash, I can’t immediately suggest a solution,
however, Rich has solved a few problems for people struggling with initial installs, and if it was crashing after install, he might have a few tips of extra stuff you could do. So again, I’d share your experience with him, and see if he has any additional tips beyond what you’d tried.

Am not sure if the uninstall process removes all the preferences.

You may wish to trash any preferences in the library folders.
    Macintosh HD->YourHomeFolder->Library->Preferences->Media 100 Suite Preferences

That might make it more of a fresh start when you reinstall.

Another way to ensure it is a fresh start, would be to create a new user account for MacOS, log into the new user’s account, and then install a copy on that account – just to see if that works.

I don’t know if the people using Media 100 okay on High Sierra installed it fresh, or migrated the application over.
Or whether it would make a difference to it crashing or not.

If you get the splash screen at least, it must have installed okay.
So I’m hoping it’s just a preferences issue.

November 2, 2017 at 4:00 am in reply to: Media 100 2.1.8 Crashing On Launch

Some people are managing to open it in High Sierra,
so there should be some hope for you!

I haven’t heard a specific solution to this specific issue yet.
So right now, your best bet is to ask Rich via info@macvideopromo.com who may be able to provide some assistance.

Was it a fresh install of High Sierra, with a fresh install of Media 100?
Or was it an upgrade of a system with Media 100 already installed, to High Sierra?

Did you resolve any of those problems Ethan?
I find the Media100 website doesn’t load if it’s https://media100.com and does load if it’s https://www.media100.com so I don’t know if the problem was just as simple as missing the www.

As for the program crashing on launch, that’s far worse than the minor problems Floh was referring to as encountered so far, =S. Good idea of yours to perhaps look for the installer and try a re-install.

Of course, you may have already done this by now – so how did it go? =).
