Will Thunderbolt negate the need for Desktop towers? With traditional card extensions able to be plugged into iMacs or MacBookPros as opposed to sit in a tower? [Music wise, I have a Fireface 400 and a MacBook Pro].
Still, I recognise there’s still a market for Mac Pros, and have joined the facebook group, to monitor how the campaign goes.
I should point out, I did a professional project with Media 100 between 2004-2007, but have not done any professional video work since. I just drop in on this board from time to time, as Media100 is one of those products you just fall in love with – and certainly, if I do a professional video project in the future, Media100 and Boris Red will be my tools of choice.

I still have my G4 Gigabit Ethernet with P6000 card + DV Option, running Media100i 7.5 or whatever the version was, in OS9. ^_^
I also have Media 100 Suite v1 on OSX Leopard.
I’m still around, but I got Media100 for a DVD project which ran from 2004-2007, and I only use it occasionally now, for the odd Youtube short. I’m no longer a full time editor like I was 2004-2007, so it only sees occasional use.
That said, I found at least x2 professional users besides me here in the UK back in the day. Michael in this thread, and Kieran Matthew who used to post here too. Then when appealing for freelancers on mandy.com I came across another two or so students, who knew Media100 – one of whom had done some work for another Media100 based company based elsewhere in the UK.
Outside of the UK, I get the impression John Buck / Velocite still uses Media100, and I did find a bunch of people in LA that used it still also – although again, that was 2004-2007, when I was actively looking for Media100 people, to help with projects, etc.

Yeah, sorry Michael. I’m not video editing as much these days which is how I have time for it [ it’s actually an unhealthy addiction, 😉 ].
Been using the Boris Red engine to make illustrations for a print document, of all things, lol. [Cineon full gives me the high res dpi I need, ^_^].
Would love to see Media100 gain ground in the wake of FCPX probs, but don’t mind if likewise, Media100 leaves PR to the grandchildren and just continues to make a solid product.

The problem with Media100, is that I love it, ^_^.
I don’t love a lot of software, and I think that’s why Media100 users can sometimes be a bit zealous on pointing it out as an option to people.
It’s not some dodgy unknown though. It’s been a pro app alongside Avid and FCP for some time. According to another thread on these forums, the original Final Cut, known as Key Grip “was slated to have been Media 100’s Windows solution”. See: https://forums.creativecow.net/archivethread/8/397519

Am also thinking about this. Was doing some 720p editing recently on a software-only Media100 1.0.1 [later upgraded to 1.1.3] – my first HD edit, and it had real time playback errors [Macbook Pro, Unibody 2008, 4GB Ram, 2.8Ghz Core 2 Duo, Media 100 HD codec], yet I was using the internal hard-drive, which was 7200rpm, =S. Was it because I had no dedicated hardware such as MXO2, or was it to do with Hard-drives?
I need to buy a new hard drive soon anyway, and figured I’d go the eSata route, but wondered – do you have to do some RAID stuff with them to get the most out of them (have never made a raid before), or can you just plug in an eSata drive and start using it?

Ahh! Version 1.1.3 does fix it if I do a new composition clip from scratch. It’s just the existing clips in my project that won’t render, so I have to redo them in this new version.

Might be a mute point…even though it looks dark in Photoshop, even after saving from Photoshop, it looks brighter again via the Finder and Preview, etc. =P. Maybe I’ll have to edit in the dark, and trust it’ll all look fine when saved, ^_^.
Oh hang on… proof colours,
When I go VIEW>Proof Setup>Monitor RGB, and tick VIEW>Proof Colors, then it looks as bright as it did in RED. =P Sorry guys! Me being a n00b.
