There are apparently a lot of us using Media 100 and other software who want to stay on MacPro’s and not move to Windows (I for one never will). This would be impossible if we are to stay on Media 100 Suite, as it is Mac only. I encourage everyone who is happiest on a Mac to Like this new FB page We Want a New MacPro https://www.facebook.com/MacProsPlease closing in on 10,000 Likes in two days!

Who says that there won’t be one? Anyway, surely our current ones will carry on for years yet? Still, I’ll certainly support the petition.

My G5 Quadcore is still going after all these years, as are the many Macs I have from much earlier. Expect the same from my 2010 5.1 model. Have about 15, some 15+ years old, all still running. Thanks for the support of that FB page. Media 100 Suite is still my favorite finishing tool, even though I own all the majors.

What is it about Media 100 that makes it your favorite finishing tool?

Power, stability, reliability, ease of use, excellent ProRes support as well as other codecs. Quicktime support. Mixed timelines, good tape machine support, clear audio interface. Good file export capability. Coded for the Mac (it’s only focus). Many other reasons.

Will Thunderbolt negate the need for Desktop towers? With traditional card extensions able to be plugged into iMacs or MacBookPros as opposed to sit in a tower? [Music wise, I have a Fireface 400 and a MacBook Pro].

Still, I recognise there’s still a market for Mac Pros, and have joined the facebook group, to monitor how the campaign goes.

I should point out, I did a professional project with Media 100 between 2004-2007, but have not done any professional video work since. I just drop in on this board from time to time, as Media100 is one of those products you just fall in love with – and certainly, if I do a professional video project in the future, Media100 and Boris Red will be my tools of choice.
