Never mind… delete this post, I thought this was for FCPX rather than FCP7…

Thanks for all this info guys. I really appreciate it.

  • Thank you all for your replies. My boss unfortunately purchased two iMacs and FCPX instead of PPro for work. We ended up going with the JVC HM150U’s which are pretty good little cameras for what we do. I personally run CS5.5 at the moment and will be upgrading to CS6 and a PC in about a year.

ho there Bob! No need to get nasty about it. I wasn’t so much looking for what you suggested at the time. I was more looking for informed opinions based on experience. And I was looking for a single drive unit at the time I posted this thread, but we have moved away from the Mac Pro and are now using iMacs… I don’t think the LTO route is going to happen for us sadly…

thanks for all the info guys. My boss settled on a couple of JVC Everio’s for lightweight stuff and JVC HM150U’s for the really big shows.

THe only problem I had at the time I posted about re-wrapping was the amount of time it would take to re-wrap the footage. Thankfully, FCPX doesn’t need to re-wrap anything for the 150’s since they shoot QT files natively.

yeah, I’m using some heavy audio effects on the multiclip audio. It’s only during the Voir Dire part of the trial that I do this since the jurors aren’t mic-ed. And yeah I figured I could just bring up the gain globally to workaround the problem.

I think this may be what I’m going to have to do in order to work around what appears to be a bug in fcpx. Whenever you adjust or mix audio in each camera’s own timeline, there appears to be a three to four db difference in audio gain when you go back to the main timeline…
