    Hi Tom,

I can send you a couple of short clips if you’d like. Fair warning – the CRM files are huge. 256 GB CF cards fills up in about 34 minutes. E-mail me at andy@animusstudios.com

Have you tried going in to the effect controls on the clip and changing the opacity to screen?

I’m running in to the same issue two years later. A client says they need an hour long project also as an AVI…I’m expecting it will render out to over 1 TB. Why are people using AVI over mp4?

Welll…now I’ve run in to the same problem. Can’t tell what I did differently from the last time I used RED footage, but sure enough the source settings are grayed out when I right-click on the file in the project window. Anybody figure out how to access them again?

Me three. Anyone find a fix to this yet?

  • I’m operating the latest version of Premiere CC 2015 on Yosemite, and it seems to work fine for me when I click on the file itself in the Project window

  • You can change the source settings by right-clicking on the clip in the Project window.

    Hi Tim,

Do you have a solution as to how to get the intended color in an exported file? I kinda gave up on fixing the issue at the time I wrote this post, but 5 months later and I’m still experiencing the same problem.

I exported samples (MPEG2, h264, QT h264, QT ProRes and just an exported JPG from the program monitor) from Premiere and took screen shots of them open in QT player next to the corresponding preview. There is a clearly noticeable difference between the two images.

    Exported Frame from Program Monitor:

    h264:

    QT h264:

    QT ProRes:

    MPEG 2:

I’ll be the first admit that I’m not an expert when it comes to codecs or exporting, so I won’t be surprised if there is a simple fix to this. I’m hoping there is!

As Tero suggested, compressing the footage by kicking out an h264 format could be causing the grain. Try exporting with a Quicktime format and h264 codec.

You’re going to have to forgive me Tim, I’m not entirely sure what you are asking in regards to “gamma”.

I am just receiving a more saturated image in my program source monitor than in my export window and, therefore, in my exported file.
