Just taking a shot… check to see if any of the clips in the sequence are corrupted (check GFX) after that trash the preferences, restart.
If you do not need the alpha channel then just use the million colors preset without the plus (+). My gut feeling is corrupted file, hard drive full (remember always keep at least 10% of your hard drive free) or the ever entertaining software problem.

I do not know what software you are posting on but in FCP I would lay in my basic 1st layer of video with matching audio (V1-A1, A2) then for different takes put the new video above the first video track and the audio below the first audio track (V2-A3, A4) and then either cut or fade the audio between different versions making sure that only one version of track one (or track 2) is up full at the same time. If you play around with it you will find theat you can overlap take 2 track one with take 1 track 2 and tighten up dialog a great deal. Common sense will tell you that you dont have the same character saying different things at the same time so that is something to watch out for.
    I hope this helps,

  • Possibilities, I am shooting from the hip so take it as it is.
first will 2 different Kona cards work in the same machine? (this would be the easiest solution)
Find a cheap bare minimum Mac to put your LS card in and use it to capture beta then you just have to transfer files.
Add a Component to SDI converter to your Beta SP (alot more expensive)
Check out what Blackmagic Design has to offer (Multibridge) but I do not know if it will do a high quality upconvert.
    Hope this opened some opportunities.

Check your system preferences-Universal access and see if anything is activated or on. I had this happen when I installed some software (it was a while ago and I cannot think of what it was) and the install messed some things up and I had that exact effect. You may have to install the latest Mac OS “COMBO” update to straighten it out but check the universal access preffs first then if it continues think about any software you have added recently, after that reinstall update.

    Best.

This is a side note (all the above advice has covered most everything) What I am talking about is “Lav Mic Gravity” or LMG for short.
No mater where a lave mic is located or how many times you move it, the hands must hit, grab, or at least brush against it. I have no solutions (other than booming everything).
I just wanted to acknowledge the existence of this phenomenon.

I have been using them for 4 months and they are great. They last most of the day (for eng work in Lectro transimtters) and I don’t feel guilty for throwing used alkilines away.
PS Make sure the charger is switched to the right setting.

  • Create 4 separate tracks that are in sync and export them out individualy as mono tracks. From there you can take them to someone or if you have a mac and DVD studio pro I can talk you through it.

  • I vote for the DVD player option (it is possible to find a dvd player with a 5.1 decoder built in) It is more idiot proof, easy to loop, and you can make back-ups easily. Also if something breaks you just replace a component. With a recorder if it breaks it has to be replaced with the same model (which can be a problem if it is no longer made.
