  • Hi Nathaniel. Thanks for answer

it is not a matter of performance. It is a matter of safety purpose for projects and footage, and having the footage centralized in one NAS, instead of having them spread in four LOCAL HDD machines.

Yes, our main softwares are AE and Maya. PF track, Photoshop. Ilustrator. We work in Visual Effects and motion graphics. We are not editors.

We have not issues with LOCAL HDD. But we have all footage spread. I am concerned about loosing performance if the NAS setup is not correct.

We still are not working in 4K but we all know that it is coming sonly.

I would need to know how much bandwith I need for this NAS. How much data rate it needs to deliver. 1 Giga-E or 10 Giga-E ? etc

    No I am not sure.

I have read just some posts that said that. But my problem is that what I need is to have realtime preview. I may have understood that you can see HD 1080 with intensity card but in static frame. When you try to make ram preview, even if your PC or MAC gives you realtime ram preview you will just see 15 fps.
If you have some info please tell me.

I will leave you my email. If you want let me know yours. We could help each other with this.

  • SO if Intensity Pro does not give me realtime preview in HD 1920×1080 which are my options ?

will Decklink HD extreme work ? I mean in terms of giving realtime RAM preview in After effects.
May be there is another workflow that I am not taking into account.

Or may be I have to accept that I will just see my HD feedback not in motion.

I don´t know what to purchase to have a proper feedback of my HD composition in After Effects.

    Kristian:

    Thanks for your answer.
    I have a Viewsonic VX2835wm LCD 1920×1080 28¨.

I am aware that Decklink HD extreme is a good choice but wouldn´t it be enough to have Intensity Pro in terms of just monitoring my work?

Is there any difference of having DeckLink HD extreme or Intensity pro if I will just monitor my RAM previews in After Effects ?

    I appreciate your response
    Thanks

Yes I understand you but beyond the description people around here say that intensity pro does not work well with 1080i preview footage

    Hey :

It’s really strange but I can’t get a clear response either from this forum. I don’t know why. I think it’s not so rare or complicated what I am trying to know.

my message is this: Help me if you know something more about it.
About your case I don’t know because i am just working with software. I receive and I deliver Image Seq.

    Hey Guys:
I need to preview in real time ( After effect CS3 ) my HD 1080i work in an external monitor I am not sure with card should I purchase. I have a Viewsonic 1920×1080.

I know that the most used card are balckmagic and AJA Kona models but I have read some complaints about both.

Firstly I was after Intensity Pro (blackmagic) but it seems that it does not work well with HD output.
Then I searched info about DeckLink (Blackmagic). It seems it works ok but not more reference than oficial web.
Finally somebody told me that AJA Kona cards work really well but I don’t know which model will be the proper for monitoring my work in realtime.

Can anybody help me with this ?

    Thanks
    Andres

    Kevin:

If it is so difficult to have real time previews in full quality at 100% size how do you do to test your final render before deliver to the following step ? In my case ON LINE editing.
I thought this MACPRO was powerfull enough to carry out this project.

I am waiting my intensity pro and I have already purchase a viewsonic real 1920×1080 with HDMI Input. Is it worthwhile ?
Will I have realtime previews with this ?

Another thing I just recently tested is that if I turn on color managment to much my output solor space, HD the ram preview are even slower.

    Thanks
