Don’t know, bit I suggest you join the TIG. I’m sure there’re people there who can answer your question. Good luck!

I hope to see Revival for Mac and a Media Express with more supported codecs.

April 7, 2011 at 10:11 pm in reply to: 32 or 64 bit Mac OSX for Resolve – or both?

    Hi Robert!

I finally got everything up and running and it seems very stable. I struggled with random crashes and a DaVinci Resolve that wouldn’t start. The problem turned out to be my GUI card: Sapphire ATI 5770. Removed that and it all worked perfectly!

Currently I’ve only got a 285 GTX card in the machine so I may have to shop around for a GUI card. Any recommendations?

My mainboard is a GA-X58A-UDR3 with bios FF, 12 GB DDR3 RAM running 1600Mhz and a i7 950 CPU running 3.2Ghz. Getting 10700 geekbench scores. I think my Rocketraid 2640 is pulling the performance down, but it’s good enough for the moment.

Btw, I took the iBoot route. It’s very simple indeed.

    Cheers,
    Andreas

[Joseph Owens] “…hardware-wise, the most fundamental component (besides the basic configuration of memory and process-depth) is CUDA processing…”

    Joseph,
Can you please enlighten me on what exactly you mean by memory configuration and process-depth?

    Thanks!
    Andreas

PS! I have the latest CUDA drivers installed for my 285 card.

    Hi Ola, Robert and Joseph!

    thanks for replying!

No reason for me to run in 32 bit (Mac installation defaults to 32bit I think), but I thought I ask since I have some problems getting Resolve to run on my 10.6.7 Hackintosh. It crashes while loading “Allocating memory” on both 32bit and 64bit.

Does Resolve create a log file so I can see exactly what went wrong? If so, where can I locate it?

I will reinstall my machine today and make sure it gets as clean as possible and in 64bit ofcource before I install Resolve.

I have an ATI 5770 card for GUI and a GT 285 card for GPU. This is a 3.2Ghz 4 core machine with 12 GB ram, SSD vertex drive for the OS and a 8 TB Raid-0 for video. I also have the Wave panel. Should be OK in theory. 🙂

I’m new to Resolve, but I’ve graded on a Pogle (telecine) for some years.

I have plenty of Decklink cards, but not the HD 3D card btw.

    Cheers,
    Andreas

November 30, 2010 at 9:32 am in reply to: Capture codecs supported by Media Express?

Still limited I’m afraid. Blackmagic has stated several times the past year that an update is coming, but it seems to take forever.

We’re seriously considering dumping all our BM cards and switch to AJA because of this …

  • I now see that if I choose a 16×9 project in Premiere the film has the normal aspect ratio during capture and edit, but when I playback the captured .avi file in Ie. Windows Media Player it is still 4×3.

This leads me to think that aspect ratio on Anamorphic SD material is infact captured as a 4×3 file and it is up to the playback/edit system to play it back in the right aspect. Or am I way off here? 🙂

    Cheers,
    Andreas

    Kristian,
Please contact me aswell. I have previously discussed fileformats/codecs with BM staff (by email + at the IBC and NAB), but would like to send you something aswell. I do have some useful inputs on the subject I believe from a post-production facility dealing with many different end-users.

You can reach me at andreas(at)smalfilm.no

    Thanks!

MediaExpress 2.0.1 is still stuck with 1920×1200 size.

Can we please see a fix soon?
