Is there any way to capture directly from a Spirit (maybe into Media Express), with control of the telecine via RS422? It would be dual link into Decklink to DPX. I realize Resolve for Mac can’t control the colorgrade, but transport control via ME would be awesome – trying to avoid Clipster or other HW solution.

Don’t know, bit I suggest you join the TIG. I’m sure there’re people there who can answer your question. Good luck!

I think both Tangent Devices and Film Systems had boxes which would interface to a TK to have it controlled by 422, I think this is how Baselight does Spirit Control.

    No, you’re wrong again.
Both Baselight and FilmMaster have a full Spirit protocol out of the box, so they both can control it, and color grade it, while the material is being ingested.
May be your “cheap grading room”, that you’re promoting so much on can do that for you. And let’s hope the film is shot perfectly and there are no scratches and dirt on that film or otherwise, adios amigos, we don’t fix anything in post:-)
