Pardon my interruption. I’m an AE person, not an avid person. If I use the most recent Meridien codecs, does the avid I’m going to also need to have the most recent? How could I make sure they do?

I realize this is a late response, but you can find the transfer/blending mode plugin here… https://images.digitalmedianet.com/projects/profoundeffects/plugins/free_plugins.htm

I don’t have any experience with it, but found it because I’m trying to do the same thing.

Where is this RGB Limit filter? Is it new to FCP6?

Here’s a feature request, how about a way to search for filters by name (like in AE)?

January 15, 2008 at 9:10 pm in reply to: Broadcast Safe Black Level – Is there a plugin?

Oh, and one more question if I may.

Any idea why the levels would jump up and down on my waveform (as a whole, including the sync signal)while playing down the sequence? Even though it stays even in the FCP wf? Its as though the base level is up and down with each clip.

Do you mean adjust the input tolerance to 97 or 98? Should this be done to the entire nested sequence after I’ve dropped the broadcast safe filter on it?

January 15, 2008 at 8:55 pm in reply to: Time Remapping Question

If you toggle clip keyframes (lower left corner of timeline) you can see the little click marks for speed on each layer.

Use the time remap tool (SSS) to click within the layer. It will create a keyframe. As you drag left or right you will see how it affects the speed to either side of it.

Make 4 keyframes for the beginning, end and the section in the middle where you want it to speed up.
Then put the remap cursor on the keyframes in the middle and slide until the speed in the middle is where you want it. Your speed to the left will change, but that’s okay. Now go to the keyframe on the left and slide until its at 100% between keyframe A &B. Do the same for C&D.

This maynot be the most efficient way but it works. If you want to smooth. That’s trickier because it ill adjust on both sides of the keyframe. You’ll need to do that in the motion window until you get something you’re happy with.

Joe I can’t say I am familiar with what you’re talking about. Can you explain what you mean by the large mask? And what you mean by it “showed” in my other character? Did it end up subtracting from your other character? It might be helpful to make a screen shot with the masks revealed.

January 13, 2008 at 4:39 pm in reply to: Set, Render, and Leave

Dave, great suggestions, of course. I do in fact set up a separate folder to render to and then resort the renders to other folders once they’re all completed. But I was/am still getting that message. And unfortunately, Darby, it doesn’t ask me that question until it hits that particular rnder request in the queue. So if it comes up in the middle of the night, I’m not there to answer yes to it.

What I’ve learned is that although I’m using Nucleo to do the render, something is happening at some point in the operation that is making Nucleo fail which then kicks it back out to the After effects renderer half way through a render. As a result, After Effects is seeing two files with the same name, since what Nucleo does is create two instances of your project and render them simultaneously. It has already created a file with that name, then AE says, “hey this file already exists, do you want me to render over it anyway?”

Nucleo has a Support Tool in the Nucleo pull down menu. I’ve run that but the problem is still happening. I’m in contact with support at Nucleo about this. The support tool can put together of “package” of vital information. But gridiron (Nucleo) can only tell me where it is failing, not what the problem is. Though they did suggest that there may be a conflict with some of the Knoll Light Factory plugin version. But I’ve had this sequence render before with Nucleo successfully, using the same plugins in the sequence. So I don’t see why it should be having a problem now.

Anyway I tell you all this in case someone searches for this kind of problem in the future and it is in anyway helpful. I will update the post again if I get the answer and it is a “gotcha” that can be educational to someone else.
