I don’t know, but wouldn’t you just be able to take the compressed files and drop them on the disc image and then burn?

In After Effects there’s a plugin from Re:Vision called twixtor that I think will do tweening for the missing frames. Don’t know if it works in FCP too.

I appreciate your helpful advice. I just didn’t need to be scolded rather than advised, so thanks Michael(s) and David.

I stopped by TekServe this morning and got a new internal HD to install the new OS onto and will do some drive swapping to copy over stuff from the old one as needed then save that drive in case of emergency.

I’m sure it will be refreshing to have an entirely new clean boot drive. Will do all the software installs and upgrades, etc until everything is entirely up to date.

I’ll read your article about Snow Leopard. Just a little nervous to jump into it with this particular project. If all goes well, I will upgrade to Snow Leopard before the next one.

BTW, David, nice to see your face finally. You always have the best advice and now I see you have a great smile.

(did your equipment info used to be on your signature always? I kinda remember it there. Or maybe that’s in the Apple forum? Doesn’t matter.)

Well, I could refuse the job and go default on my mortgage, or I can actually say yes and do what I can to get it done. I’ve chosen the latter.

Doesn’t my signature say that I’m on Intel Dual 2.66 with 6GB RAM?

Anyway, that’s why I’m looking for advice – to try to prepare for any glitches. I’ve already avoided the Snow Leopard route based on what I’ve read. And decided this combo is going to be the best for my needs which include laying off to blu-ray (ergo, FCP7).

I don’t think its a very different edit than any other I’ve done in HD that I’ve delivered in digital format.

I don’t have any experience with it, but I noticed today that CoreMelt has a plugin called Lock & Load which they claim does a better job.

Duncan, did you ever find an answer to this question? I’m experiencing the same problem.

Thank you for your sympathy Dave. Unfortunately I was given a drive with all the projects split out. And for their purposes it makes sense, but for mine it would really limit how much I can do. So I’m afraid I’m stuck with the huge project.

I already tried doing the option drag thing and yes ran into the peril of replacing the wrong thing and deleting unused solids, etc and what did I end up with? A big mess. So I had to start over.

I will heed your advice and just live with the huge project. I have also posted to ae enhancers to see if anyone is familiar with a script that would accomplish this. I’ll let you know if I hear back.

    Thanks,
    Andrea

  • Hi Dan,

You can use Streamclip to convert the mp4s into any of the fcp codes you want. If you don’t have any other media in your timelines, you might as well use the DV codec. But if your timeline has clips at DVCProHD then convert the MP4s to this codec using MPEG Streamclip. You can do a search to find a download of it. Its free.

I had found the same problem in a project I did last year. I somehow made it through. But am sorry I bought Magic Bullet. The project file became huge and it crashed all the time. The folks at Magic Bullet were nice enough but couldn’t confirm the problem was their software.
