of course you have to render your color correction! (eg. proresHQ) and then (if you really have to go back)
create a new xml and relink to the graded files in fcpx.

i am still on resolve 11 because of an unfinished project! but i could go
the other route you posted, and i really nearly did, but then i thought:
of course i can render my proxies manually, and later reconnect, but
shouldn’t this be possible with the built-in render-cache automatically?

but my main question/comment was about the render cache.
i ended up freeing some diskspace on my fast raid and grade
from the dpx-sequences directly.

and the sabilization in davinci-resolve works great for that kind
of shots that i have (only tripod total shots, without panning or
tilting or zooming).

but yes, if i had to do with handheld-camera-work i would be
out of luck inside resolve i guess…

you could try to force filmgrain using the cpu only and see if that solves your issue.

when i renember it correctly, right clicking on the thumbnail of a shot in color mode and
selecting “use local grades”. but beware, all your grades are then lost (if you have already
begun grading).
you can save your grades before by making a new still tab and right clicking on the video preview
monitor and select “grab stills from every shot” or something like that.

sorry, can’t tell you that for sure!

in my understanding the different settings (channels on your projector) do mask
the image (just like the different masks used for 35mill) and then optically zoom the
picture to fit.

but for the sake of professional delivery i wouldn’t recommend to do it that way.
in the good old film days there were also a lot of “full frame analog copies”, and
when you showed them in the wrong aspect you could see the boom etc. of course
this shouldn’t happen, but it could. it never can when you mask your master yourself.

but then again: also the dcp-authoring-software let you normally decide to do this.

can’t really say anything aboutthe new one, but i
can say the nvidia one never made strange things
when it comes to rendering on my macbook…

and, it makes me sad seeing apple dropping
nvidia step by step (yosemite 2 nvidia limit… mac
pro having amds…)

especially because i think despite the effort of
bm, nvidia is still the stablest option when it
comes to rendering…
