April 5, 2020 at 1:38 pm in reply to: node caching feature request

thanks michael! interesting video… but, i do know about node caching. what i ask for is a shortcut to add a node to the user caching.

because when i grade eg a feature in rec709 with NoiseReduction use on the first node, and a color space transform on the third node, i can’t use smart cache, because it tries to cache all ofx plugins. if it does that, everytime when i do a before conversion luminance change, it stutters because of the caching of the color space transform (which i don’t need). it would be ideal if a pop up comes up when using smart cache with all the ofx plugins used in the timeline to toggle smart rendering on or off.

now i have to MANUALLY go to the mouse and right click and say add node to user cache. which gets tiring on a real job with 1000 edits…

  • if you use optimized media, recreate the optimization or turn it off to check if this is your problem…

the color tab comes after the fusion tab, therefore you can‘t hand over your mask directly. but you could pipe your masks into a key mixer and then into the next picture input node, then render it out and import it into fusion…

ps: more details please. how do you apply the lut? what are your project settings. do you try to match before or after the lut?

    hi peter,
    hi marc.

i don’t see why peter should not treat red footage the way he does as redgamma2. and, as long as you are in an davinci YRGB project, the redlog-film-dpx footage with the lut should look nearly identically. color temperature, iso and the like aside, if it was shot differently, those parameters are “burnt in”.

last time i checked, there was this problem, about a year ago.

i am not sure if something changed since then. the ridiculous thing is, when changing to fairlight page, the original sound file name is still there… there is just no metadata option for the export ☹

    very silly and strange 🙁

a 3d-lut will only primary corrections take into account. secondary corrections can’t be translated into a 3dlut.

  • it is the other way round! you have to bus a fusion dongle version, it supports resolve as well!

    hi saul!

i am not sure if i understand your posting in the right way. what do you refer as “background”?

if you would like to have a preset for eg italic subtitles and normal ones, this is unfortunately NOT possible right now to my knowledge :(. why, honestly, i don’t know. either bm doesn’t understand the need for it, or they simply have other priorities (eg. cut), which are NOT mine.

as only one track style is available per track and only one subtitle track can be viewed at the same time, there is no workaround i can think of possible :(. bm has to fix this.

even if this is fixed, there still is the (theoretically minor) aesthetic problem left wich is for a lot of my customers a no go: the missing OUTLINE option. only thing available: STROKE. but the thinnest possible black stroke option makes the font unusably thin!!! (and no stroke and no outline is a reading problem towards bright backgrounds)

i do complain about this since the subtitle tool was integrated (back in v15 i think), but till now, no comment, no update.

so i guess we are forced to use belle-nuit till the end of our days. this fancy little free tool which ONE suisse editor programmed years ago, but unfortunately doesn’t update anymore. the con: it is rather complicated and time consuming.

sorry for hijacking this, but is this your problem as well?
