prores4x4 is a totally fine mastering codec. never had any issues.

did you leave data levles at auto during import? during export? i would suppose there is
a problem. i never touch those and leave them at auto.

if you are in a non color-managed-project, it is totally normal that the timeline gamma
doesn’t do anything. if you render out dcps the timelinegamma will be taken to linearize
and put the 2.6 dci gamma on top, so, in that case it would make a difference.

  • hard to renember, but i think in version 15.1 the non studio version could
    render out dcps…

in the fusion room display the clips and right click to copy grades, works the same as in the color room!

if you are in sizing mode the copy process would only copy the sizing, and if you haven’t change sizing it could appear as if nothing happens. (you have to be in color or all mode…).

plus, there are options to skip nodes etc. in the copy grade process. right click anywhere in an empty gallery space and check those settings as well…

are there? why would apple say put it in your 30k version, but not in the normal studio version on linux?
apple is granting at the same time scratch and adobe suite to do so… maybe they changed strategies. or
    mabe it is about money.

    whatever, christmas wishes 🙂

  • well, that’s what i thought/experienced as well. therefore i wanted to be on the safe side and built up a linux machine for davinci about a year ago. i thought it will be even more stable, and it kinda was, but not too much i have to admit. it is pretty much the same, only that i am now able to put in more graphic cards. (which is very big PLUS).

as davinci linux doesn’t accept the cooper eclipse i was using on osx, i had to buy their mini panel. and i love it, but it is kinda disappointing that i have to fight with this little things. and it got worse after the update to 15. before i had no problems.

so, therefore i am complaining a bit. but don’t get me wrong, i love davinci resolve and bm and all the effort they put in it!

ps: the usb connection works really better in 15.2 on linux on my machine. from time to time the mini panel does reset itself, switching to the initialization process again, but is reconnecting every time. so i think it has to be some kind of bug in DR15, and i hope they will fix it soon.

  • thank you marc for your reply! your post reminded me of the usb-alternative, and i am now going for that route. it seems less promising, because my computer is not at my desk and everything is io-gear-extended usb-wise, but it seems to be more stable nevertheless. at least until now, no more disconnections.

    strange days.

i have version 1.2 firmware on my mini panel.

  • hmm… i am connected via ethernet 🙁

check your reel name settings and if the reel names populate in media pool. resolve will look for the same reel name and then for the same timecode. if the reel name is missing, it will just try to connect based on the same tc…
