Anybody gotten the new 15″ Retina Macbook Pro yet with the AMD Radeon R9 370X and run Resolve? How does it stack up against the previous generation 750M?

Reviews on GPUBoss and Anandtech seem to point to it being not much of an upgrade depending on your application, just curious how it does with Resolve.

can’t really say anything aboutthe new one, but i
can say the nvidia one never made strange things
when it comes to rendering on my macbook…

and, it makes me sad seeing apple dropping
nvidia step by step (yosemite 2 nvidia limit… mac
    pro having amds…)

especially because i think despite the effort of
bm, nvidia is still the stablest option when it
    comes to rendering…

    Hey guys,

I can safely say, that there’s (as of now) absolutely no difference in rendering times between the 750m and the m370x. (Not sure if performance hasn’t even dropped a bit as Resolve doesn’t seem to be optimized for the AMD card yet).

I had just ordered one of the late 2014 Macbooks on the day when the 2015 model was announced and did two jobs with it before returning it due to some weird kernel panics so when I received my new model (2,8 Ghz, 16GB RAM, m370x) I was able to run the exact same project files as I did on the older model with the Nvidia 750m.

    2K Alexa ProRes4444 25p renders at ~27-30 frames
    6K Red Epic R3Ds 25p render at ~7-9 frames
    HD ProRes422HQ 25p renders at ~37-40 frames

These were DnxHD36 8-bit MXF tests.

    Cheers

    Thank you!

Saves me an upgrade this cycle and let’s me wait on Skylake. Much appreciated.
