I have written about this earlier. Macs with decklink installed will get slower after a while. This is especially noticable on G5s (quads are the worst). Removing the decklink and installing aja fixes this. Reinstalling the system will NOT fix this.

It would have been very strange to sell off the proapps. It only runs on macs, and these apps works great for making people buy new models… cause it’s cpu intensive.

I use it all the time, and it works great. Should be plug and play. DV is by nature not frame accurate, so I don’t think you will be able to do any inserts on dv. You have to use digibetas and stuff to get reliable edit to tapes.

Here is my take on it. I got this error message for the first time today. I could output a timeline with 50frames but not 25. Reinstalled aja drivers and then I noticed that my device control was set to 50 panasonic VTR.Changed it to Sony PAL VTR and then all worked. Not sure if this helps you out.. .

Do yourself a favour. Use After effects, and not finalcut. It is so much better..

Thanks Bob. I am a hardcore finalcut guy, and there are some many things I love with this app, but as you’ve said.. there are certain things in fcp that are a mystery to me. And you are right, I have been a bad boy.

If they just could give me a decent TC window I would try to forget about the annoying errormessage.

XML might fix this, but it is not very convenient to do this in big productions with thight deadlines. I know there are ways to deal with this, I am just dissappointed that fcp doesn’t deal with these problems very well.

Our macs use both Aja and Decklink cards. I am aware of the problem with decklink cards. This is not one of those.
