Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy DVCAM DSR-45

I am running tests to see if I can reliably output an SD sequence to my DSR-45 DVCAM deck. I have it hooked up both with firewire and an RS-422 remote cable. I am trying to output through the Edit-to-Tape window.

When going out firewire, I can do an assemble edit but without audio. Also, it is not frame accurate. In the device control settings the protocall is Apple Firewire but the audio mapping is greyed out.

When using the RS422 I gain the ability to output audio but lose the ability to write to tape.

I have called Sony and they told me “it should be working”.

Now I ask you my FCP experts. Anyone done this or know what settings I have that are messing this up?

I use it all the time, and it works great. Should be plug and play. DV is by nature not frame accurate, so I don’t think you will be able to do any inserts on dv. You have to use digibetas and stuff to get reliable edit to tapes.

what settings do you use in terms of device control? It greys out audio mapping and won’t allow me to write the audio.
