Just an update –
After consolidating into the new Mac Formatted External harddrive and trying to consolidate and export an embedded AAF it returned an error when I stick to the project settings (PCM). When I force it to convert to .WAV the export goes through with an OMFI folder created on my HardDisk Root.
What am I missing here? Also will my sound guy need these OMFI files or are they embedded into the AAF?
Much Thanks

Hello.
I am having exactly same issue as posted. Like mentioned – I had two drives both formatted in NTFS (Using Paragon) one housing the project files and the other housing the Avid Media Files folder. I tried exporting an Audio only AAF for sound mix – with the Error mentioned in the OP. My settings were exactly as posted above with the only requirement being that the AAF must have the Audio embedded so inking to Media is not an option.
First I moved the project files into the same drive as the media, and made sure the media creation settings are all pointing to the one drive.
When I tried to Consolidate with a handle of 1min it gave the above error.
When I tried Copy Media – it just hung on me multiple times. Then, like you suggested, I duplicated the sequence, deleted the Video tracks, and consolidated the entire sequence into the Second Hard Disk (Now erased and reformatted to MacOS Journaled). I copied my project folder and ejected the NTFS harddisk.
I reopened the project from the Second Harddisk and I tried exporting the AAF with the same settings.
When I tried to consolidate and export an Audio Embedded AAF it returned – “Exception Disk Access denies, filename: creating”
When I tried to Copy Media and export an Audio Embedded AAF it was successful.
(I’m waiting to hear from my sound guy if this works and if it does, I’ll have to follow the same process for all the other sequences. Im assuming this AAF will be larger than the consolidated one. If I cant ill do it, but id rather find out what Im doing wrong)I’m trying to understand why consolidation didnt work in both the cases since it doesn’t seem to be an issue with the Hard Disk file structures. Is there anything about permissions Im missing? (I tried exporting to the system Drive but it wasn’t working either). I tried checking the Video Mixdown and export as .h264 800kbps Proxy but that returned an error too
Specs: I’m using a Seagate NTFS with Paragon which stores both the Avid Media Files and the project files. The second Harddisk is MAC OS formatted, houses a copy of the project files and the consolidated sequences clips in the AVM folder.
I’m running Avid Media Composer 8.4.4 on MacOS High Sierra 10.13.4, 2.7Ghz,i5, 8GB DD3The footage is all GoPro, first AMA linked and then Transcoded and the Audio was imported.
There is no issue with corrupted clips or timelines since I was able to export a low res DNXHD36 video file as a ref for Audio Mix.
Please help.

Yes, the audio fx. And err… That was pretty simple. Thanks Glenn.

You can re-link the sequence to the original camera rushes themselves if your edit is complete. You know where your files are, so just right click on the sequence to re-link.

Once you’ve lost the MXF files, it is not possible to regenerate them with the same MXF name.
If you want to re-link the editor’s sequence to UHD MXFs, you’d probably have to re-link the AMAs to the original footage, re-transcode them to create new MXFs & then link them to the sequence. –> (Right click the sequence, RELINK – use “Selected media in ALL open bins,” and relink that way. I had the new transcodes open in a new bin & selected. Sequence should relink to the new transcoded clips.)
When something similar happened to me – I couldn’t work around the re-linking AMA to original footage in bulk. Rolled up my sleeves and did it one by one.
Hope this helps

I am just posting myy answer in case some has a similar issue.
Basically I just AMA linked everything, including Audio this time, Transcoded everything to DNXHD36 into a new bin, right clicked on my sequence, and relinked by choosing “Selected Items in open bins” (Including Offline)

Your camera owner may be buying into the myth that using the camera as a deck wears out the heads.
He either might not be knowing it or he might be doing so for business. Because he has a deck and he wants people to use it so he can charge more. 🙂
Anyway, thanks steve. Im done, capturing and converting the video files. Ill be starting editing today. 🙂

Yeah well, somehow it dint work with those .mov files. (damn you apple :p) When i tried converting the .avi (divx) to cfhd it worked like magic. But looks like its eating a lot of space. 🙂
I’ll start editing right away.
I’m gonna back again once i finish the editing for advice on exporting issues. 🙂
Thanks a million. You might just find your name on the credit roll.. 🙂

Thanks a million John.
Now…that cup of coffee may be just around the corner. i think ill learn somethings for a little while longer and start editing may be tomoro.
1. When i used Xilisoft converter to convert .mov to .avi it did not allow me to choose my video codec. So after converting i ran the .avi file through GSPOT and the codec is DIV3 (Divx 3 low motion). These are obviously not editable.
So how do i convert my .mov into Lagarith codec .avi (what software/converter). Or how do i convert the .avi using divx3 to .avi that uses lagarith codec?
Also, i downloaded the trial for cineform HD. I used it on one of the files and it got converted CFHD which i have heard is also pretty good for editing. Views
Thanks and cheers!
