Thank you, Russ, that method works for me, but I noticed that I have to change the keyframe types to ‘HOLD’ instead of the default as ‘Linear Fade’.I also found another method where I can use the normal text media generator. First you type in the full text, then you mask it, creating points on each letter to reveal each one.

Yeah I tried it, but it doesn’t work.
However, I fixed it by changing the Time stretch/Pitch shift Method to Classic, and now it works fine. https://puu.sh/daRYS/d75d0e8225.png
It seems that some of my clips don’t automatically put it into this method when time stretching, so I have to do it manually.Anyways, thank you.

January 30, 2014 at 11:40 pm in reply to: How do I make my clip look like it has worse quality?Oh, sorry I should have been more specific. I wanted it to look like a surveillance camera in the modern years, but with the quality of an old camera. I hope this makes sense. But yeah, I tried fiddling with the contrast and adding in some Gaussian bur, and it made the effect better, thanks.

January 30, 2014 at 1:26 am in reply to: How do I make my clip look like it has worse quality?Alright so I made the ratio to 4:3, added TV Simulator effect, added a bit more contrast, some noise, and lowered the framerate.
I tried experimenting with Quick Blur and Pixelate, but I don’t know which one is better.
Here are the results https://youtu.be/SBTDNbb8-Wk. That video is the comparison I did with pixelate and blurring. I’m looking for a surveillance camera type, but I also noticed in real life ones, most have bad quality, like the cameras used in the 2000’s, so I was looking for effects that could do something like that. Are there any other effects or adjustments I could make?
and also, what’s the difference between AddNoise and FilmGrain?
thanks

Oh okay, thank you very much, Norman Black, it works.
Is there a reason why MediaFx is different than VideoEventFx?, like what’s the difference?
thanks

thank you for replying,
So I tried what you suggested, and I’m still having troubles.
Here’s what I did:I added a new track above my video, then I right clicked, and clicked “Insert Generated Media”.
I chose Sony Solid Color, and clicked OK. I then extended the solid color to fit my whole video.
Then I changed the color to a transparent color, then my video was visible again from being white.
I right clicked the Solid Color, then chose Sony Timecode and pressed OK. The timecode effect then appeared on the bottom right of my video.
I right clicked the Solid Color again then went onto Properties. I clicked on the media tab and chose “Use custom timecode”. I changed it from “Time & Frames” to “Time”.
I then set the time Custom Timecode to “12:35:00.000”. Then i pressed OK.When i played the video, the timecode didn’t change, and did not start at 12:35:00.000.
Is there anything I’m missing?
thanks
