Absolutely no problem with my Macbook Pro and the 256mb graphics card, I’m running FCP and AE CS3.

Could also try the flash frame effect that comes with the free ‘too much too soon’ fx package. Google the name and you’ll find them easily enough.

Cool thanks, yea after reading all that I’m thinking of a slight magnify glass effect, using soundkeys on the kick and have a slow exponential curve between key frames on the x/y scale magnify effect (maybe the z?). Either that or maybe I’ll try shooting a tight close up a big speaker cone with a couple of tracker markers. But yes it dose look like its emanating from the center doesn’t it? Just been wondering how to do it, cause someone asked me if i could… and now i just have to know… !

The bits where the image bounces like a woofer speaker cone… and some ladies to look at too 🙂

Cool, thanks guys, that tutorial is just what i needed. Didn’t know about the sequence settings box, i was setting the timecode in the bins box just like I’d do in avid when doing an assembly edit. Most of the editors there use edit to tape in fcp but I’d imagine print to to video is much the same. Thanks again.

Are all your machines connected on a local network? Could be the problem with that, especially if your media is stored on a shared server. Had a similar problem with an avid editshare system I worked on a while back. My only advice would be to disconnect the network and run a couple of machines standalone and see what happens…

Hi, I just bought a macbook Pro last week. I bought the 15″ because I went out to an apple store before I bought it online just to see how big it was to see if the 17″ really was too big for me. Its portable in the sense of having a car or moving it from desk to desk every so often but for a daily commuter like myself the 15″ was just big enough and not too small either. Its light and the battery life is great too, I also used to use a g4 and i was lucky to get 90minutes of video editing from the battery, I was editing with the MPB on the train the other day for over three hours and I still had some juice to spare! The illuminated keyboard is great too, it senses the ambient light and adjusts itself automatically. The matt screen is fine, I’ve use the macbook with the glossy screen and its so reflective it felt like I was looking at myself all day. Still have to finish up a project with my macbook so I’m looking forward to seeing how much quicker my render times will be. My only gripe is that the keyboard keys are plastic, pity they couldn’t have been titanium like the rest of it. Hope all this is of some use to you!

August 10, 2007 at 9:43 pm in reply to: FCP to EXT DVD

Cool, good to hear i get this working, I’ve over 70 36 minute offline tapes (now rushes) to get to the transcribers over the next few weeks, we haven’t got a digi player of our own so theres gonna be some long nights!! What i was thinking was to dump all of say TAPE1 into the timeline, drop a read timecode box (the tape timecode, not the sequence timecode btw) onto the clip or clips, maybe render it if i need to (it shouldn’t take long eh?) and then record out onto dvd through the dv deck. I was just wondering if i needed the dv deck part of it, could I just firewire out straight into the dvd recorder? It all sounds very easy in theory
