There ws a website that had all those warning signs on a CD quite cheaply. I also have some I made. Let me look through my millions of bookmarks and see if I can fine it again.Basically for some, I just tok the wording off some commercial DVD’s (paused them and wrote down the warning) and made a slide in Photoshop Elements. Easy enough to do.

Yes, You’d still have to creat it in Vegas. Create it as a seperate video (veg) file from your reguilar video. Then in DVDA set is as intro or “first run”.
That’s how I do all mine. When you put my DVD’s in, first comes up the FBI and Copy warnings, then my logo flies in, then it goes to the menu for the video.
I keep it as a ‘stock’ video already rendered to MPEG-2 so I don’t have to re-create it every time.

I just use regular AA batteries. Cheap and don’t have to worry about chargers. Used it at a seminar in Reno back in March. 3 days 8 hours a day and only changed batteries once or twice.
Also look around for deals. Where I got it from, they gave me a free carrying case. Google it and check.

I use a Marantz PDM660. It’s great in the field, has 2 XLR inputs, no moving parts and records to a CF card. At MPEG-2 Mono I can get about 35 hours on a 1gb CF card. Of course it goes down from there.
It’s a great backup recorder and I just drop the CF card into my editing machine and transfer the files. No capturing.

Well, when field shooting, I use DV Rack. Then I can shoot directly through the laptop into DV Rack and then to the external HD. I got several long firewire cables that allows me some freedom of movement, but due to the type of technical videos I mainly shoot, we’re usually stationary. Tape then becomes the backup. Am presentlyt using the Sony VX2000. I’m in the process of getting a new camera so I don’t know exactly which I’ll get yet, but I’m looking into tapeless direct to HD. Don’t know yet though as I got about 3 months before I’d buy one.
Also in the process of testing for my CLVS and shooting depositions would lend itself great using the lapptop and DV rack as with this set-up I can eliminate another external monitor.

I got a little scared when I read the EULA. Maybe I missed something or mis-understood what it said.I got to install V7 on my laptop cause I got a huge video job in LA that’s going to require me to be out there 3 times 2 weeks each, then back home for the major editing. But in the evening at the hotel, I can capture the video to my portable external laptop HD and at least start compositing stuff
Plus I think my front firewire port in my main editing computer went south on me and I’m in the middle of a project for the railroad. UGH! When it rains, it pours. ha ha

I’ve heard that disk manufacturer’s have different grades of blanks. Does TY have both a professional and cheap grade. Which are the good ones?

There was mentioned some time ago either in this forum or another of the forums I belong to about a software that will back up files to a MiniDV tape. ie; backing up computer files. But I personally don’t think it will do what your asking, because once you remove the original video, unless you rendered it, what you’ve done is gone from the video.
Best way for you to back up the project and video files is to get an external hard drive. They’re cheap and most (WD My Books) come with both USB abd Fire Wire ports. Plug it in and use that for your project backup. Next time you want to open it in Vegas, Vegas will ask you where the moved file is and you can either tell it or have it search automatically. That way all your editing and composits will be exactly the same and ready to continue editing from where you left off.
I’ve got over a terrabyte of external HD’s for just this purpose as well as storing finished project files that are still somewhat current.
The VEG files stores all your edit information so as mentioned above you can always re-capture the original video again.
