Imported the VOB into Vegas 7. Since everything I have here is NTSC there’s a lot of what seems to be artifacting. Not pixelization thogh Gee, I don’t know how to explain it. I guess it’s being compresed down to NTSC on my monitor.

    Hi Leslie
No XP actually. Way too early for me to even think about Vista.

Well, I’ve been in touch with Sony about this.

I uninstalled 7.0e and re-installed Vegas. Plain old 7.0 Build 79. I tried printing to tape with 2 test files I had. First on an AVI required no rendering. Just brought it into the timeline and clicked PTT. It worked fine. So I brought in a file that had some composits so it needed rendering. I again clicked PTT. It rendered itself andimmediately printed to the tape also.

Next step, and thank GOD for XP, I’ll create a restore point, then install the D upgrade. I’ll try the same two tests with 7.0d.

OF course we know 7.0e won’t PTT for me and how many others?

Never mind. I found it. Got it from Sony’s FTP directory. They got ’em all there.

Anyone have 7.0d I can have? I don’t seem to have it on my computer and I can’t get it from Sony’s site.

Only one at Sony is 7.0e. I’ve had Vegas 7 for a while but just recently installed it so never got any of the updates before ‘e’.

I may just uninstall Vegas 7 and go with the original install and see if that prints to tape from the timeline.

    Thanks

It’s mentioned above NOT to log in as Administrator and how right yoou are. Nobody can install anything then if you’re logged in as a user and I found a program that’s just for you then.

It’s AMUST Software’s 1-defender and it’s free. It attaches to yoour browser and anytime you bring up your browser it brings it up as a user and not administrator. You do have the option to log in normally as administrator if you know you’re going to download and install something like a Microsoft update.

    Check out their website……

I highly recommend this and have never had an issue with it.

    Hi Gary
Never thought of that. I did have Vegas 5 in my Laptop before I got the HD replaced but always used DV Rack.

So then it’s a manual capture? What do you do if you pause the camera then? Stop the capture to create a clip?

IN my VX-2000 I tried going from the firewire to DV Rack but the camera still called for a tape. The icon was blinking on my camera LCD screen. Tried to hit record and it wouldn’t let me.

But that’s okay as the tape is a good backup. I even qurried Sony about that and was told by tech support that the VX2000 won’t record to anything without a tape unless I used the analog out (RCA) connectors.

Something to try when I get my camera back.

DV Rack! Wonderful software. Got it in my laptop. Made my own external hard drive, got a Hitachi 80GB and put it into a case that’s USB powered and Firewire data transfer. Connect the firewire to the laptop, record through DV Rack onto the external HD. DV Rack give you so many options it’s amazing. Monitor, audio preview tons of stuff. You can even preview the clips without using your camera and loosing your timecode. And You can control your camera from the laptop or vise versa.

Otherwise with my VX 2000 I can’t record tapeless unless I use the Analog out (RCA). Still have to have a tape in the camera but the DVD to HD is a great backup. Just upgraded to DV Rack HD.

Adobe’s got DV Rack now but you can go to Serious Magic’s website and it’ll redirect you. Better thing about getting quickly though. I heard rumors that soon it will only be available in that new suite Adobe’s come out with. Don’t know the truth of that though.

I’ve tried them all. Be careful with Kerio. There’s conflicts with some spyware and other software.

I’ve used the AVG Free Antivirus for years and now they just came out with a complete internet security suite. Has everything, antivirus, firewall which I love because it’s easy to use, a spyware program and email protection for Outlook but I don’t use Outlook much. Before AVG I also used Nod32. It also was good except when they upgrade the program I has some issues with that one also. AVG has a very light footprint.

Got a 3 pack license for $99. That’s my laptop, editing machine and internet machine. MY editing machine doesn’t go on the internet except to update software.

I can work in Vegas, even render without AVG disrupting things.

Just got my son’s computer back online after having to re-install XP. ON his computer I put AVG free plus I found a free firewall that seems to be good. Comodo. Haven’t installed it yet but I’ll keep you informed.

Then there’s spybot. I also has issues with Ad Aware so I[‘m really scared to use it. It trashed a computer a few years ago. And yes, Hijack This is good.

Do I have to uninstall DVDA also? Something about registering AC3 and MP3?
