Flying Logo in DVDA – Can This Be Done?
Posted by Janet Turner on August 4, 2007 at 2:15 pmI have a client who wants to have his final production include a Warning statement about reproducing the video followed by a Tai Chi logo flying in from one side of the screen, stopping, and then flying out on the other side. This would be followed by the menu screen. I plan to use DVDA to author the video. I have never done anything in DVDA that would allow me to do any above things prior to being given a menu. Is there a way this can be done?

August 5, 2007 at 12:52 pmYes, You’d still have to creat it in Vegas. Create it as a seperate video (veg) file from your reguilar video. Then in DVDA set is as intro or “first run”.
That’s how I do all mine. When you put my DVD’s in, first comes up the FBI and Copy warnings, then my logo flies in, then it goes to the menu for the video.
I keep it as a ‘stock’ video already rendered to MPEG-2 so I don’t have to re-create it every time.

August 5, 2007 at 2:48 pmThank you guys for responding. I tried searching help in DVDA but since I did not have an easily described name for the technique I wanted to use, I could not find any information on it. I am breathing a sigh of relief that it can be done. I’ll be practicing it today before I really need to do it for real. I like the idea of making up a stock Warning sign.
Again, thank you both for taking the time to help out. I really appreciate it.

August 5, 2007 at 4:37 pmTwo things to remember:
The Intro only plays at start up – the viewer cannot get back to it from the menu.
Unlike a motion menu – the intro has synced sound! Think of it as just a separate stand-alone movie leading into the root menu page.

Thank you for the heads up. That is exactly what I want to happen. I only want both the warning and the flying logo to show up when you put the DVD into the player.
I start shooting Tuesday – my first REAL gig where someone is paying me REAL money. Oh happy days! Be watching the theaters for the release of the newest tai chi training video. (Just kidding, the only folks interested in this will be the people taking Master Zhou’s classes.)
Have a great day.

There ws a website that had all those warning signs on a CD quite cheaply. I also have some I made. Let me look through my millions of bookmarks and see if I can fine it again.Basically for some, I just tok the wording off some commercial DVD’s (paused them and wrote down the warning) and made a slide in Photoshop Elements. Easy enough to do.

Thank you for responding. If you find the link, let me know. The more access we have to resources that help us produce better films, the better. Have a great day.
