Getting into the nitty-gritty of Flash, Maybe DSE can jump in but my Flash renders are usually either 640 x 480 or more often 320 x 240 w/audio @ 22.5 Mono.

As far as not playing on all browsers, I’d wait for Moyea’s answer. Did you tell them that in your email?

I got into that encoding some test Flash videos for my Legal Video website in that folks with Firefox weren’t able to see the embedded videos. I finally found a script somewhere that would work with all browsers but it was a bear finding it. I didn’t use MX Pro for those but Sorenson as I just got the program and was learning it.

I’d tell the client that you don’t have an FLA file because you used a conversion program and you have emailed them for an answer. Then they won’t be left hanging. Mean time, Moyea’s in China but they do respond quite fast to support questions.

Keep me posted on what happens.

uh oh! Sorry I mis-read your problem. You DO get audio but NO video, okay, then back to DSE’s question. Somehow I read it the other way around ;-(

Have you ever been able to get both video and audio from that Flip Camera? Do you get video and audio from other cameras? If not it may be a Codec isue. Some of those small cams use a different codec and Vegas doesn’t have it.

There’s a small free program called G-Spot (Google it). It will give you all the info on a video file.

I wonder what kind of problems they’re having with the FLV file you sent them. I really find that hard to believe. FLV is FLV as far as I know (AFAIK). Did you send both the SWF player and the FLV movie together?

I don’t do Macromedia or get into actual programming of Flash. I use conversion software same as you do. However I do have Sorensen Squeeze with the ON2VP codec for encoding to flash. Maybe it was your settings in Moyea? If I remember correctly you have a few choices of settings.

Again, I’d try to find out exactly what their problem is before pulling your hair out! ;-)))

I used Moyea on and off for years, ever since they first came out with their original FLV to AVI converter. Never had any problems.

If you client wants to have an original FLA file then those are the original Macromedia files.

I found this for you:
“An FLA file is a Flash source file that contains all the animation and graphics. To manage this file you should have Macromedia Flash MX 6 or higher…”

I don’t know why they need the original FLA. It should work for the web if you sent both the SWF and FLV file that Moyea created.

If I’m thinking correctly, an FLA file is the same as a Vegas VEG file but I don’t know for sure because I don’t have Adobe’s full blown flash program.

My suggestion would be to send an email to Moyea explaining the situation and see what they say.

I’m also having the problem on my internet computer, including colors messing up. I tried the same clip on my editing computer and it played fine.

Which leads me to believe that my old video/graphics card may be going bad. This may also be your situation. Do you have another computer you can try this on to verify?

My internet computer is quite old and slow.

I didn’t see that post and am going by older suggestions. Maybe it’s true, I’m not sure to be honest then. I can only suggest what’s working for me presently. My media is 16X but I still burn at 4X because I heard it the other way around. If you burn too fast, you’re subject to errors. Maybe Spot will see this and jump in.

Like Steve says above stick with the Plextor or Pioneer, but I’d add the HP as well. If it’s that old, then by all means get a new one. My burner is only 3 years old. Only thing that’s improved as far as I know with the HP’s is the LightScribe is a bit faster. But I don’t use the LightScribe cause it takes almost 45 minutes to burn a disk. 😉 It’s totally possible that the newer burners are far more accurate.

Codec stands for compression-decompression. Codecs are what you use to render, work with or capture video. Generally Vegas already comes with what you need but sometimes you have to add one. (don’t ask how cause I never needed to do that). Many times here is posts I read how someone can’t play or capture a certain video. They may not have the needed codec on their computer.

Now, why are you doung double work? Using this ProShow? You can create your slide show directly in Vegas and the scripts from either Excalibur or Ultimate S (Vasst) will automate the process giving you many choices on setting up yur slide show. In many of the commerccial DVD’s I produce the video includes some sort of slide show or still image sequence at various points in the video.

If you created your slide show in a different program and rendered it to an AVI, you’ve lost your ability to ‘tweak’ the slides in Vegas.

Just make sure your aspect ratio is set for wide screen 16:9 for the entire project.

I think you got it backward. You can burn higher speed media at slower speeds but media that’s 1 or 2 x can’t be burned at higher speeds. So if you got the TY Watershield media and it’s rated for say 24x, you can still burn it at 1,2,or 4x. In fact I really never burn DVD media over 4X. I’d try a batch and like Steve says use the -R for better compatibility.

So it if works, why fix it as the old saying goes. Personally I’d wait until the BlueRay pricing comes down.

I have 2 older burners here. A built in HP LightScribe that’s almost 4 years old (on my editing computer) and an external LG burner and both are working just fine for me. Only problems I’ve had over the years with burners are from (sorry to say) Sony, MadMax or whatever that was, and some of the no name brands.
