    That’s an excellent point.
    I don’t think that exists.
It should be an option and you should be able to set the default to your preference.

Should you disable the pref for XMP assign on import when using that workflow from you assistant editor?

no….if you see them there….then they are there.

so the question is then….can you force sidecar?

I bet you can…try setting a piece of media as READ ONLY in the OS

    see what happens then…

Although PPro can sync some data from PPro into XMP…and I assume sidecar data….not sure markers is one of those things.

Even if your project media is not back up and you’ restore from the archive….

what about simply backing up your PPro project….clip markings are (I’d assume) are generally a function of the prject.

ppro Project files themselves are pretty small.

So if you can restore your media from archive, and you’ve got you PPro Project….which references that media….and holds the marker data….don’t you have what you need?

storing markups in media is potentially tricky business….when you think about a wider use case. If mulitple people what to think about and mark up an asset….storing that asset with all the markings from everyone who might use it…..could make things pretty “noisy” for lack of a better term….but I may not be thinking it thru….

    hmmm

    Hey Joel…

this assumes you multi cam master is in your sequence

    1) make a color matte or black video in your project panel…
    2) load it into your source viewer…
    3) set the duration to 30 seconds long
    4) patch your sequence so that edits from the source viewer will land on v2 and not affect your video on track 1 or your master audio
    5) now edit your 30 sec clip from your source viewer repeatedly to track 2 in your sequence. Probably fastest with the hot key. (likely the . key or if you are using fcp shortcuts, f10.
    6) do this until you’ve reached the duration of your multicam clip (hint…you can visibly mute v2 so you don’t have to see the black clip)
    7) go home on the timeline
    8) now patch your timeline so that v1 (where your multi cam master is, is enabled
    9) using your hotkey to advance to next edit should move your play head to the edit between the black clips on v2
    10) using your keyboard shortcut to change cameras should add an edit at this point to your master clip on v1
    11) repeat 9 and 10 with a couple of keyboard strokes should do this pretty quickly…

    hope that helps…

  • using this method…

the picking and choosing happens at the Media Browser point.

There you can make selects about what files you want in your PPro Project. This is the whole file from rec. start to rec. stop.

Then with only those files referenced in the PPro project panel you are using the project manager to copy them (clips in the project panel only) to the internal drive computer drive from the card.

So essentially you are making a subset copy from what was originally on the card.

  • Aren’t they changing the DeBayering of the Red Ftg to the GPU in the next update?

Seems like this would have an impact on your perf with Red in the same tower.
