  • Versioning a Sequence that contains Nests

I come from FCP 7 where any nests created in a sequence are duplicated along with the sequence so it’s easy to lock down a version that was delivered to a client with the confidence that it won’t change while working on a new version. In Premiere Pro, every time I duplicate a sequence to make a new version the nests link back to the original nests so if I decided to change a nest in version 3 it also changes in version 1 and 2 even if I have all tracks locked in those sequences.

Is there something like True Comp Duplicator for Premiere Pro?

How do you like to version a sequence in PPro that has nests?

    That’s an excellent point.
    I don’t think that exists.
It should be an option and you should be able to set the default to your preference.

I had the same issue on my latest project. I ended up un-nesting the sequences.

    I’d definitely like that feature.

Not that you should HAVE to do this…

but IN a clean project if you import the sequence (via the browser I think)…
you can get all the dependent sequences too AND it’s not destructive to the originals….

so you can work around it…

    Adobe Feature Requests

Let’s get this implemented in the next update! …or the update after that.

Let’s not just FR “true sequence duplication” — let’s FR direct scripting support and documentation for Premiere so that we can implement a feature like this ourselves.

I’m really starting to think that Adobe doesn’t listen to user Feature Requests. When was this suggested, 2014?
