    Hey Brett,

good point. I’ve never done it, but as I recall the old 3d tracking in Max was a bit difficult to set up.

    Is it easier now?

I find that I get better results with Timewarp filter in the effects panel.

And it gives you 3 modes to work with for quality and speed.

it seems easier to use as well.

    Look in help for:

    Create Trimmed Project

This should do what you want.

    Hello Omar…

Realistically, the compositing of these things should be done should be done in a dedicated tool like After Effects.

You ought to take a look at a Software called Synth Eyes which does Camera tracking to allow your 3d Camera to match you real world Handycam movements.

Premiere Pro will likely be used to ingest footage from tape and to assemble the render files you create combining 3ds Max renders and the footage from AE, add whatever additional audio you need and some basic titling.

From Premiere you’ll either output for Tape, or more likely Export for DVD or Blue Ray to author in Encore, or output as a web ready file (Flash, QT, or WMV).

So it sounds like you’ll need Adobe Production Premium CS4, and Synth Eyes as far as software is concerned.

Cameras are not my area of expertise….but your choice of camera will dictate a lot about the system horse power, any necessary capture devices (like cards) and storage speed you will need to work effectively with the software tools.

Hope that gets you pointed in the right direction…

    good luck,

  • Hi….

You can have one AE Project File and multiple comps in that Project.

    each comp is a title.

If your windows, the easiest way to bring a comp into Premiere pro is to drag the comp from the project window in AE to the task bar over the Prmeiere Pro button (if it is already open)…

this will bring Premiere Pro to the foreground..

without letting go drag up to the Project panel in Premiere….done and done…

I wouldn’t not try to drag multiple comps at once….this tends to lock Premiere Pro….

Also don’t redrag a comp you have already dragged into premiere pro, this will also lock it…

    Another method is using the:

File>Dynamic Link>Import AE comp (in Prmiere Pro)

This opens up a browser that lets you select an AE project…

in the AE project you can see all the comps and import them..

    this is pretty quick too….

    good luck!

    Hi Mike…

I too would like to set all clips to Video only…

the closest I’ve come is to set the take audio/video toggle to a keyboard shortcut (I use A).

That way you just tap the key and your good to go….

    Hey..

Once you load a clip from the timeline into the source viewer…

just try to slip it (grab the hash marks between the in and out marks and move them)…

    See if that helps…
