because even though you have trimmed a clip to your timeline in Premiere Pro, it’s still referencing your originally ingested media clip.

So even if your edit is only 5 seconds long, the underlying media file may be 5 minutes long.

so Time warping may take place from zero based on the file, not on your edited clip…

by precomping….you place constraints on what frames are accessible to time warp, this gives you a more predictable result.

    As of CS3…

    Unless someone can confirm otherwise….

Boris Optical Stabalizer doesn’t work in PPro.

It was listed on their site. But upon trying the demo, it displays a message that it doesn’t work in PPro and should be used via AE.

I talked to them about it at the time, and it had something to do with PPro not having the calls to read ahead necessary to create the pixel interpolation like they can do in AE.

do autosaves count? (i’d doubt it as they have separate file names)

What exact export method are you using from the file Export submenu?

Tell me what the choices are you see.

    CS3 surely supports FLV.

Might want to consider that as you are mastering to a particular codec, that it may indeed require an overall color grade or compensation to maintain the look you like due to the “lossy” nature of things in some compression.

Cut together some sample elements in a PPro timeline.
    Nest that timeline.
Add some color correction to “overcompensate” for what you think you losing.

Export and pass this thru your compression stage.

See if you are more pleased with the final result.

Refine this setting until you get a general setup you like. then save this as presets and use on a nested version of your general sequence.

Hope this helps or gives food for thought.

Creating new content from compressed media requires that ultimately another compression pass be applied if you are delivering back to the same format.

Some formats may handle this better than others…but it’s the nature of the beast.

    Hey Brian,

    Take the letter O

I copy and paste to I have a total of 5 of them.

Then I offset them in Z from the original

1 and 4 stay the same

    then I scale 2 and 4 up a bit

and 3 up a bit more

then I loft across all of them.

This gives me an extruded O that with a smooth bulging bevel.

(like a cheerio, but flat on front and back)

But now If i take that concept and try it across a whole word, I have to control every character and still really don’t get the look I like.

    Does that makes sense?
