Depending on the compression, it makes the file size smaller, but at the same time makes the computer work harder to decompress the frames for display.
If you really want to work with offline proxies,maybe something reliable like DV codec set to widescreen would be a good choice.

Hiya…
This assumes you are cutting back to back edits on the same video track.
1) Lift the clip up to the next available video track
2) Trim the clip out to include handles
3) Right CLick the clip and Select NEST from the context menu (assumes CS4 or Greater)
4) Double Click the Nested clip to open it’s sequence
5) Apply your stabilizing effect to the clip in this Nest sequence timeline and analyze/ process as usual
6) Close this sequence tab (this should leave you in the parent sequence again)
7) Trim the Nest clip object back to the intended length
8) Move the nest clip back down to its original track
9) Add transitions and render as needed.that should do it.

if it’s the same function, why they force you to AE seems a little silly.

could you not right click the effect name on a clip and save it as an effect preset or am I misunderstanding?

I think you should could
right click on a clip in the project panel and choose duplicate, then drag the duplicate to whatever bin you want
however, note that in the project panel if you have given the clip a memorable name, you can use the FIND BOX (located near the top of the project panel)
just start typing the name of the clip and it will be instantly exposed to you regardless of whatever bin it happens to be in. Sort of like sifting.
so you don’t really need to make multiple copies of the clip for ease of access. But whatever you’re comfortable with.

Yeah….Outer glow is the culprit.
ultimately trashing the prefs is what works for me…
resolution check box did nothing.

Does any one know:
If you download the a set of the Suite Software.
Can you then purchase multiple subscriptions without having to re-download the software each time?
that would be very helpful.

I did a cursory search yesterday and I can’t believe there’s nobody out there that makes a Firewire <> 422 control converter.
