Right click on a timeline tab and choose undock.

this turns it into a floating panel.

move it to the other monitor

right click on the border and choose maximize.

    does that work?

    Really?

because there is a difference between….

Enter = render what PPro thinks is necessary for RT

and Shift+enter = force render all to green bar

    hi,

You can always “Force a complete render” of an area by Setting the work area and pressing Shift + Enter

There’s no direct timeline “find” equivalent like FCP.

Weird, I know, for such a metadata rich environment.

But if you locate the master clip in the project panel, select it.

at the top of the project panel next to the basic clip info is a little triangle.

Click that and it will give you a complete usage list of that clip sorted by sequence/time (within the current project) selecting an entry from that list will navigate you exactly that position in that sequence.

That’s about as close as I think you’re gonna get.

December 20, 2011 at 11:17 pm in reply to: Audio Track FUBAR?

Once you understand the architecture of PPro’s audio….it’s incredibly sophisticated in terms of what can be done in a video NLE. Much closer to a DAW.

The common gotchas seem to be:

    1) Source audio track to sequence audio track type mistmatch (Stereo or split track mono)
    2) How and WHEN to reinterpret source audio track type to work with it in a way that is familiar to you and meets your workflow specs (overriding PPro’s default interpretation of an audio track). For example, DV material is often default interpreted as a stereo source, but the content is usually split track mono.
    3) Approaches to structuring audio track usage for best results in mixing
    4) When to use clip fx and when to use track fx
    5) How to switch automation modes on the timeline

I was an edit* specialist for discreet for 5 years. So I knew that product very well back in the day. Always nostalgic to hear of an edit* user. 🙂

Are you on a Dual monitor configuration by chance?

    I don’t know about mac….
But on Windows (and also on older versions of PPro running on XP)

There was a strange interface bug if you had your desktop set to “Spanned” as opposed to “Dual”

In “spanned” mode, the option to recognize image sequences was hidden in the import dialog. In “Dual” mode it showed up just fine.

Just a shot in the dark.

    Chris….

Check out Smart Collections in Bridge.

They are collections based on search criteria of metadata.

I think this will give you what you want.
