    Hiya…

Did you cut manually or use Multicam?

If you used multicam, then your multicam edit is dependent on the full length of the source clips in the Multicam source sequence.

Thus….there is no media to trim. All original source is required to archive the project.

The thing about multicam in PPro, is that its a visual cut referring to the nested sequence, and not a direct reference to the clips in the Project panel.

Shane…yes…they are building on top of their industry standard “Premiere Elements” architecture. 😉

    Hi Wendell…

bizarre….i do that all the time….

do you have your prefs set so that everything imported is interpreted as mono?

    that could be the culprit.

if so change that pref default behavior.

    then it should work.

What this will, mean, though is that camera sources…when imported will need to be selected and set to mono before you drop them on the timeline….

I think Adobe needs to be able to set up import MAPPING by file type. OR they should optionally prompt you on the way in on how to interp them…That would help users like yourself a lot….and that’s worth a feature request…

    hmmm…

Why can’t your music be stereo source in the bin and dropped on to Stereo tracks on the timeline?

PPro timelines can have both kinds of tracks in the same seq

  • All of this is possible, I assume, as long as the machine doing the rendering understand the pathway to the source media in the same way as the machine that did the editing…

for example…on windows….this means that if you are using drive letter designations…

then your media shares need to have the same drive letter designations on the rendering machine….

    that’s all…

otherwise it will be a case of missing media that will need to be relinked on the rendering machine in its copy of Ppro and saved…..prior to encoding in AME…

    hope that helps…

ok….you seem to have a grasp of things you can control to handle perf.

    Let me ask this….

    with your low res proxies….

is it possible that they look so bad because you are performing the edits on a 1080 destination seq?

so essentially the proxies are getting WAAAAY upscaled….

Is it possible then to edit on a seq that is a little closer to your proxy setup

    then remaster at the end?

    again…shooting in the dark….

What makes this more difficult….is that there is no RENDER mechanism for multicam.

either it’s real time or nothing…

I’ve built manual multicam edits before….not too bad….

I can step you thru a good way to set that up if you need me to….that way you can just work with the full res and be done with it…..

    hmmmm…..

are you starting from heavy codec (avc)

    or high data rate?

    why are you transcoding?

i’ll assume your on a mac?

    what’s your gpu like?

    1) relink source media to full res media (this you have done)
    2) you need to make an equivalent source multi-cam nest sequence with the proper resoultion full settings. I think you should just be able to copy an paste the media from your proxy source seq to the destination full res seq. That should take care of the source…

    3) now you need to make a full res multicam edit timeline.

    4) now copy and paste your proxy edit sequence clips to the destination timeline… they will still refer to the old nest (contains full res media, but seq setting wrong)

    here’s a possibility….I don’t know if this will work…

but you can try OPTION drag REPLACING clips in the full res multicam edit timeline with the new full res multicam source timeline in the project panel (bin)…

    see if that works….

I know it’s convoluted….but it’s the best I can come up with in my head right now…

let’s see if we can get past this….then I can suggest some things to try so this doesn’t happen again….

February 21, 2013 at 6:55 pm in reply to: DL: Clean preview in PPro for AE effects

    Hiya…

Dynamic link doesn’t make things from AE real time….

so some method of pre-calculation in AE will make things play better in PR.

just playing through in PPro will ultimately make a ram preview in AE. so after a bit, it will play smooth in PPro. but this is temporary as it’s tied to RAM.

some ppl render in AE and import the render to PPro and lay it above the dynamic link file in the seq.

I found using the Set Proxy capabilities in AE to be very useful in tasks like these…
    See this thread: https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/925132#925334

but this was before Global Performance Cache in AE CS6. So it may not be necessary as much these days.

    hope this helps…

February 9, 2013 at 2:44 am in reply to: Prelude…why?

    Hi Harvey…

Partial Ingest file based media and optional send off to transcoding for Consolidation friendly post project codecs are two things I see as potential strong benefits of Prelude that many overlook.
