    When you say clips….

are you referring to 4 separate media files on the drive?

    that would indeed be unusual….

  • Wow….that’s pretty huge…cause this has been a big prob for some folks…

Really? In the current release? Are you sure? I had no idea that was the case.

    Hiya….

Could be a couple of things.

    a) PPro doesn’t TRIM all types of media.
Long GOP media sources are not trimmed….only copied as part of a media consolidation

    b) does your subordinate (nest) sequence contain the entire source?
If this is the case, there is nothing to trim. PPro see this as the entire source being used even though in the master you may only be using a portion of the source via the nest.

  • Steve…

CS Next handles this….Apparently….it will allow you to pull in sequences and projects via the Media Browser and it will recognize and link to assets you already have in the project.

    BUT…

Not much you can do about it today.

It’ll just be an account you have with Apple by then and access remotely and pay for as a service.

    Walter…

one I use sometimes is to “create & set proxy” for dynamic link in AE, but do it at full res.

that way I can manage where the files land, and there’s no extra clutter in PPro….

i was sort of curious if GPC would negate that…

    but your points are valid.

    Hi Walter….

[walter biscardi] “Definitely something to understand fully and have a strategy of how much to use in a longer project.”

How much does the AE GLobal performance cache help with this?

Can you centralize it in a workgroup environment?

It should effectively work like a scratch disk for AE, no?

Interested to hear your thoughts on this…

    thanks…
