    Thank you.
I was just thinking: How about exporting the text to RTF and then reimpoting with some kind of Show Import Options slected? I’ll try.

Just one? You will probably need more than one reason to convinve your comapny.

How about unified, syncable color settings THAT WORK.

Just out of curiosity, what problems were you having? With a software rip? Error messages?

Weird! The only way I could get line weight to rescale was only if the line was part of a group and then to scale with the Direct Selection tool using the command key (adding Shift is optional). This did not work when scaling the line object alone or when using the Free Transform tool!! Let me know.

If the problem does lie with their software RIP not properly rasterizing the tranparency effects, you could always downgrade your PDF to Acrobat 4.0 (PDF version 1.3). Notice that the industry standard settings for the PDF/X setting default to Acrobat 4.

The “Press” setting you are using defaults to Acrobat 5 (1.4)

The difference is, when the PDF is created the transparency effects are flattened and therefore SHOULD be easier for you printer’s RIP to process. You can still select the “Press” preset, but just change the compatbility to Acrobat 4. When you do this a new option becomes available under the Advanced pane of the PDF Export Dialog box: Transparency Flattener. Choose the the High Resolution Setting.

Select the text box with the selection tool (NOT the Direct Selection Tool). Make sure the text box doe NOT have a fill assigned to it. Then (I use the object contextual menus) control-click (or right-click on PC) the text box and select Drop Shadow, etc.

The trick is to have no fill assigned to the box/frame.

From the WIndows Menu select the Attributes pallett, then select “non-printing”.

Note: such non-printing objects will not appear on screen in the preview mode.

Have you tried to tag the image in InDesign by right-clicking (control-clicking) the image(s) and selecting from the contextual menu “Graphics” > “Image Color Settings…” and then assigning (not converting) a new ICC profile??

Copy path in Illustrator. Paste into InDesign document. Go under the Object menu>Content and select either Graphic or Text.
