Ditto, don’t see minimum system requirements. At the very minimum (pun intended), would like to see “any computer with a USB 2.0 interface able to capture up to 480Mbit/s (60MB/s)”.
It would be great to know the minimum OS requirements; how to set or change encoding data rates if possible; what are the pre-set or maximum encoding data rates for a given incoming signal.

I’ve seen it happening before (don’t remember if I ever figured out why). You can modify the clip to the correct frame rate. In Windoze, it’s right-click (on the clip) -> Modify -> Interpret Footage. Should be something similar on a Mac.

I’ve been intensely watching GPU acceleration discussions on FCP and DaVinci forums; Adobe’s Todd Kopriva also kindly chimed in.
GTX 580 is the current top dog and best value for GPU acceleration in Premiere CS5.5: most cores, fastest memory bandwidth compared to any other NVidia card. The fact that it has less VRAM than Quadro 4000 (or higher) may be important in some extreme high-res workflow, e.g. a sequence of 30MP DPX stills; for that, you’d want a card with more than 2GB VRAM. However a 4K still is still an 8MP still (funny how that works :p), i.e. a GTX 580 is more than enough to accelerate a 4K workflow.

One other question: are there any real-world benchmarks for the CS5.5 improvements in CUDA processing?
Does it matter (much) which supported card is being used (with all other things being equal), and if so, how significant are the differences, and which card is the current “sweet spot”?

Purely a guess based on past discussions on the subject: the faster memory bandwidth and extra CUDA cores make GTX 580 faster than Quadro 4000 in GPU acceleration.

I always thought of project settings as primarily output-based – but I see your point in attempting to minimize conversion artifacts.

Chris, “it’s kind of silly to advance the notion” of anything without any evidence. Do you have any evidence OpenCL will be anything close to Cuda in performance? No assumptions or speculation please. If not, then strangely, the real evidence out there points in a different direction – see my previous post.
The real evidence that is not based on assumptions and speculation, also points to Apple moving downmarket and away from niche and enterprise markets. Pro Video is a niche market and I just can’t see Apple spending much time there unless it’s a side benefit of efforts in the mass market that don’t cost a lot.
It’s much more beneficial for Apple to work on iMovie for iPad than on FCPX for MP or MBP.
Clearly the days of Apple focusing on the “pro” market are over – several years now.

Is the list of GPUs supported in CS5.0 still out there somewhere? The old link (adobe.com/products/premiere/systemreqs/) redirects to 5.5.
Adobe support page has a link titled “Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 system requirements” (April 30, 2010) – and it’s broken as well.

I don’t think it’s included. I don’t remember how to get it – I think you may have to sign into your account on Adobe.com (or create one), register your CS5 there, and then you should be able to download it.
