Ok so I think I’ve simplified my question:

I would like to use time displace except instead of black sampling 5seconds into the past and white sampling 5 seconds into the future, I would like the sampling time to be absolute, so black samples from 0 seconds and white samples from 10 seconds. This way I can get time animation by moving the color matte only, and not have the video being sampled also always playing forward in time.

Here is my situation. You can see that the stripes show a gradient from winter to spring (not a hard edge). This is still image looks great, however since I want the stripes to move across the image (because the “stripe matte” layer animates) this requires that the video work in time (not frozen). However when I play this video not only do the stripes of time move across but the entire scene progresses forward, meaning the winter sections become spring and so on. I want the winter sections to stay winter, spring sections to stay spring, the transitions between to stay smooth, and for the strips to animate. My feeling is that your suggestion was to just freeze frame this screenshot via pre-composing and frozen time remap frames.

Am I wrong?

You can copy keyframes from AE to PR! You can’t do it by copying and pasting the keyframes or properties (like you could in AE or PR) BUT you can copy entire clips from AE into PR! If the effects/properties you have in AE also exist in PR they will carry over with it!

I want to have about a dozen mir objects in a scene. Instead of having to go into each layer’s mir effect and tell the dropdown which sources to pull from for the texture/bump it’d be sweet if I could write some sort of expression saying to sample from “layer index-1” or even better “layer atTime” etc.

BTW I also have this issue, big-time. Interestingly I see that when saving my RAM usage goes full blast, even more than when ram previewing.

Rolled back from 15.1.1 to 15 and saving works fine again

I think I’ve realized that JPEG2000 has a max dimension of 4096 by 3112, though strangely there’s nothing about this on the web.

You can’t even type a resolution higher than that into AME.

I have the exact same issue. I loved being able to do time-lapse screen recordings of my AE work on mac using ScreenNinja (https://getscreenninja.com), which allowed you to set recording and playback framerates and worked flawlessly, outputting small mp4 files.

I can’t seem to find an equivalent program for windows.

OBS lets you set recording framerate but then still spits out a 6 hour video if I recorded my work all day.

CamStudio is sketchy, uses more processor power than I’d like and sometimes crashes in weird ways causing my screen colors to invert. Plus the output videos are larger than they should be.

Any suggestions?
