Hi all, not sure if this is the correct place to post this. Our IT department kicked me off macs and now I need a new screen recording software for my PC. I have used quick time in the past. I want HD and I’d like extra features like zooming in right in the software… maybe arrows and such. Anyone use something you’d recommend?
    thanks!

Camtasia is a long time favorite on Windows.

You can use the free Open Broadcaster – it just records and whatever resolution your select, then you would have to zoom and add arrows etc in post. There is value in paying for Camtasia because it does a lot of the work for you.

I have used Open Broadcaster to record webinars. WebEx and GotoMeeting let you record the shared screen content, such as PPT, but it does not record webcam content. I make the talking head big enough to manipulate in post, usually making it smaller.

I have the exact same issue. I loved being able to do time-lapse screen recordings of my AE work on mac using ScreenNinja (https://getscreenninja.com), which allowed you to set recording and playback framerates and worked flawlessly, outputting small mp4 files.

I can’t seem to find an equivalent program for windows.

OBS lets you set recording framerate but then still spits out a 6 hour video if I recorded my work all day.

CamStudio is sketchy, uses more processor power than I’d like and sometimes crashes in weird ways causing my screen colors to invert. Plus the output videos are larger than they should be.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!
