Thanks for your quick responses.
The settings I’m using are the same I’ve been using for a couple years with no issue at all. Its not a lack of kbps issue at all. I compressed at 6000kbps on MPEG stream clip and the output looks fine. This is a screenshot of it https://imageshack.com/a/img673/1668/evVFJd.jpg
I’m using CS5. I’m compressing to H.264 via “Format: QuickTime” and then selecting H.264 in the drop down menu. There is no setting for CBR. Regarding keyframes its automatic. There is practically no motion in the clip.

Oh. I found what the issue is.
The mov files are reference files not self contained video.
Thats why. But normally it should play.motion pictures + storytelling = ?

For some reason I don’t have that option.
Under RT I have “Play back Base layer only”
and under Record to Tape “Use Playback Settings” or “Fully Quality”.motion pictures + storytelling = ?

Thank you for your insight. I tried a few things here are the updates.
I tried repairing the file with a software called StellarPhonixMOV Repair. It did not work.
I tried repairing the file with a software called Remo Repair MOV. It did not work.
I tried opening my file in Pavtube MXF (recommended by a friend). It did not work.However:
The file opens and plays fine in MPEG streamclip.
I did the Apple Pro Res timeline trick you told me. It requires render. I render a small bit (2 minutes) and it plays fine. It works. I run OS 10.8.5I need to find a practical and economicall way to either fix those files without it taking to much work time. Or I will have to reexport the originasl from the FCP project and put them on HD for the person who needs it.
Let me know what you advise me to do next.

Oh and an other question I also had was concerning the a close caption text automatically poping off.
Indeed, if I type a text and extend its timecode for a little wile after 15 sec and 15 frames is pops off even if the timecode setting goes further. Is that something inherent to the close caption standard ?motion pictures + storytelling = ?

Thanks for the reply. So I was able to fix the issue.
It came from the Close Caption file being cut/trimmed at the binning and not starting at 0 time code.This brings me to three other workflow questions.
For info: frame rate is 23.97 and my video file is AppleProRes (HQ). I’m creating those captions for a DVD. The captions will be sent to the post house authoring the dvd.1. You mentioned something about the caption file being generated from the reference video. Can you tell me more. I want to verify I’m not doing something wrong. Because the way I created my caption file was by doing New Item – Close caption and then I put that file in a track in the timeline. Something ells that worries me is that when I click on my caption file and I get “properties” it indicates me that the total duration is 00:00:02:23 which is ridiculous because my last caption goes to 00:18:37:09. 2. When I’m done I would like to export the timecode file with starting timecode at 1:00:00:00 because right now my timeline starts at 00:00:00:00. I tried changing the starting time of the timeline to 1 hour start but the Close Captions timecodes start at 0 so I can’t copy an paste me sequence timecode in the caption timecodes for working more quickly.
3. There are two caption standards. CEA 608 and Teletext. It is asked we select which standard when we create the caption file. Can we change that later on ?

Hello Peter,
Are you referring to deleting the media cache files ?
My files are not in that location as I have saved them first in a separate assigned folder now I have asked preferences to save then next to the original media.When Premier Pro stops “responding” to the system that’s when I force quit it. Do I get a crash log written down somewhere ?

Just tried. So the first operation that Premier does is “simplifying” the project. The the status bar for AAF export comes but it never starts. I cancelled after 3,4 minutes. How long is it supposed to take ?

Its mainly HDV 1080 25p in M2T files and WAV audio files. I have some Animation codec and some Apple Pro Res 422 (HQ). Thats it.
