  • Slow Premier Pro & crashing – any reason ?

Posted by Alexandre Brandt on September 10, 2013 at 6:17 pm

    Hello all,

I’m having some issues with Premier that stops responding to the system when I ask for an operation such as “Sequence -> Delete renders” or something as such. I am editing on a MacBook pro from 2008 so I am not expecting for speed or stuff but the fact that the program is crashing makes me believe their could be another problem. In fact I opened my Premier Pro file on a fairly powerful recent iMac with 32Go memory and it did crash at certain times if I forced it. My project file is pretty big 400Mb. Is there a way like in FCP to trash preferences and such to see if the problem gets fixed ?

    Thanks !

To delete your cache go to /Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe

If deleting your cache files doesn’t resolve the crashing can you send me the crash log?

    Good luck!

    Hello Peter,

Are you referring to deleting the media cache files ?
My files are not in that location as I have saved them first in a separate assigned folder now I have asked preferences to save then next to the original media.

When Premier Pro stops “responding” to the system that’s when I force quit it. Do I get a crash log written down somewhere ?

    Thanks

Go to whenever you have saved your Media Cache and Media Cache Files (2 separate folders) and delete those.

When Premiere crashes a OS dialog should appear that says “Problem Report for Adobe Premiere Pro CC”
Click the Show Details button. Copy and paste all of the text into a text file. That information will hopefully give us a idea on whats going on.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
